Cattle sheds were turned into a lab, a church into Space Center.
58 years later, India has reached Mars. It is also looking to build its own station in space. Palki Sharma takes you down the history lane.

I remember that day.. I was up all night and when the mission failed and I saw Dr. K Sivan crying.. I also burst into tears.. I will never forget that day.. it taught me never to give up.. learn from mistakes, work hard and move ahead.

Fun fact: India became the first Asian nation to reach the Red Planet when its indigenously made unmanned spacecraft entered the orbit of Mars on Wednesday - and the first nation in the world to successfully reach Mars on its first attempt.
Also the first country to make a Mars mission which was half of every satellite launched to Mars or spend on Mars mission!

India’s space journey starts in 1942 when TATA sponsored Homi Bhaba to do research on Atomic energy. Later Tata and Homi babha started Indian Governments Department of Atamic energy in 1953. Then vikram sarabhai joined Homi bahba as a junior and from Department of atomic energy created ISRO, ECIL , CMC and india is atomic power , space power and software power bcos of Tatas work in 1940s-1950s.
