How To Break Closed Guard Without Getting Swept

- In today's video I answer a recent question about breaking the closed guard in BJJ (Gi or No-GI), WITHOUT getting swept in the process.
In Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, the Closed Guard is one of the most dangerous positions to be stuck in. It's also a great position for your opponent to sweep or submit you if you're not careful.
Therefore, it's important to try and approach it with caution and technique when breaking it.
This Guard Break is both beginner friendly and extremely effective (in my experience) and hopefully a useful idea for you to practice next time you're in training.
I hope this helps.

If you’d ever like to train with the team and I. Check out my gym Derby City MMA in Louisville,KY.
I don't break my opponent's guard. I wait for them to get bored and open their legs.
Feed em a submission and pray I can defend it. #hacks
Sounds like a good way to get choked.
@@tigercrush2253 That’s my go to mount escape 😂
Eveytime 😂😂
I do that a lot of the time as well.
Someday Adam is actually gonna have something to say and we all better pay attention
Thanks for posting.
I hope you are feeling a bit better every day.
Take care.
If I try the stand position won't he just grab my ankles and off balance me since my base isn't super wide?
Good question.
yoooooooo bjj white belt here lol
Good for you. Keep training. OSS!
I would have to control a wrist at least. It’s easy to reverse by the time they stand up. Touch your knees together, grab behind the ankles and push to mount.
It never ceases to amaze me how in BJJ every little detail makes a world of difference. Thanks, Chewy!
Thank you for the amazing video as always. Hope you are doing well and that your health is on the mend
I'm good and back to training. Appreciate the concern!
Nice one. It's putting his knee in internal rotation, not external 👍
Adam
Nice. I'll try it when I stand up to open closed guard and avoid double ankle sweep or mermaid sweep.
If they r heavy, standing up burns a lot of oxygene. I prefer breaking the guard while staying on the ground 😅
What do you say to people who say boxing doesn't work in the streets
We just drilled this in class today.
Great tips. Thanks

Been trying for years to pin the arm with the 2 on 1, seems like anyone can just rip their arm back no matter what I do?
