Great tutorial Jimmy! Just found your channel and subbed. That should bring the subs to 67 now. You'll be at the 100 subs level for the contest in no time. Looking forward to more budget ideas. Cheers, Danny
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I really like the step by step instructions. It makes it easier to not mess up and you look like you are enjoying what you doing. Thanks again... Wilmer
Love your verse! Your videos are very good as well...where in the south you at? I'm in SC, just about 3 miles from GA, on Lake Russell and know all about the red clay...
Nice video, I’m glad you started and I found your channel. You really hit it out of the park with the Google Sheets one, I’m surprised it didn’t get you more subscribers. Is this because the title pulled in searches unrelated to model railroading? Not being nosy, just curious as I struggle to learn the ins and outs of growing a new channel. Keep them coming if you have the time.
I'm a newbie. N scale Kato track.Just thinking instead of baking the dirt. Can you speed up the process by microwaving the dirt? that should have the same effect. Just thinking out loud. Lol.Thanks for sharing.
I’m binge watching from the beginning and… I missed the step of asking SWMBO (she who must be obeyed ) before I use “her” oven!?! How did you secure your track down initially? SD45
Very good video and tutorial!! Got some Red Clay from Georgia while visiting parents and have used to weather some locomotives ried to imagine how to use on layout, excellent method. REally enjoy your channel and what you are doing on your layout. Thanks so much for sharring! D. Muse
Hey Jimmy, I've used real dirt in the same manner that you do. I've also used some fake dirt as well. Both work very well. My soaking glue mixture has 25% water, 25% alcohol and 50% white glue. It's easier to do than how you do it. One step after you glue the dirt down.
I guess I need to go bake my bucket of dirt before using it on my layout? Should I bake all of my materials that I've picked up alongside the roads? Rock, sand, limestone? I commented, please enter my name into your 100 sub contest. Have fun, Roy
makes sense to me. if you need dirt on your layout. Use dirt. great video on how you do it.
a page out of my own playbook.. you can't beat real dirt.. same with pebble talus.. I'm really enjoying your channel Jimmy.
Yep I love this very budget friendly scenery material. I use it all the time. Thanks for sharing. David.

Thank you for the kind words! That google sheet took a lot of work and I am so happy that people are getting good use out of it!
I use the ash from my pellet stove. It's very fine in texture and has a brown, dirt looking color.

wow, you can make dirt out of dirt, never learned that in school. Wonder how I could make rocks?
😂😂😂
I’m guessing wouldn’t matter N scale or HO scale would have to do same thing
Would that work with ho also?
Do you buy your white glue in bulk? You can buy a gallon of all purpose white glue from Menards for about $24.
I use race track dirt/clay from my dirt track car
Can I do it with sand? I think yes, but I ask it. :)
Sure can!
@@DIYDigitalRailroad thanks.

CONTAINERMAN68 I think rocks and such are ok, it's mainly dirt that you actually have to dig up.
