Shed Hunting 2022 Week 8 | BIG IOWA SHEDS

A few action packed days of shed hunting in Iowa brings the total shed count to 82 on the year. Despite unexpected snow, I find my favorite deer antler so far this year. In addition this week produced an unusual number of big sheds that were dropped in prior years (most on new farms), including an antler that we had found the matching side FOUR years ago.

Yo what’s the deal with south facing slopes ?? I’m not new in outdoors but have picked up a hobby of shed hunting and I would like to know that whole or deal

It's usually the sunniest on south facing slopes, so a lot of the time deer will bed there to catch as much warmth as possible. And where deer bed there's a good chance they drop their antlers there or close by.

Have a question. So when u get permission to walk these farms... do the property owners tell you people already walked it before you? Cause u seem surprised and guessing that people are there before u. Do the property owners not tell u? Or are people trespassing? Sorry I only have public land I can walk. No farms even close to where I live in suburban Chicago

Depends on the situation honestly, most of the time land owners tell me ahead of time. But even on farms that I am the only one with permission, I still find myself guessing about trespassers.
