The close up shot of the condom wrapper was a really nice touch ^-^ stay safe out there guys protection is important . I don't know why but BL Drama Love scenes just hit different for me as a Asian Drama Fan I think because the intimacy of it is just on another level where as straight drama love scenes just feels like Window
Dressing or robotic like if the actors don't want to go to that place to make it believable for the viewers so we are left with something just inauthentic and surface level like the love scene in business proposal Yikes ,they should of called up the Brigerton on set love scene coordinator xD . this was beautifully shot as much as I like Thai BL dramas and most recently BL k-dramas its Japanese BL dramas that ALWAYS hit u with such realistic Love scenes u end up feeling like you're intruding xD
The condom wrapper was indeed a nice touch.

I really liked this series, I'd love a sequel with them finding their way through a relationship alongside their own drama sequel. Sadly so few series get sequels even though they should, but I always hope for the great ones.

I must say ... this is the first BL series I watched in its entirety where I wasn't too impressed. It was too painstaking slow, and neither of the actor/characters really stood out to me. I think the story itself could have been told better.
You haven't watched too many Bl series, right... ? I mean because there are FAR less impressive ones than this, LOL 😂. Not that I think this one was anything special. Anyway, I think it started out quite well, but the last episode didn't deliver, IMO. The "staccato-like" pace diluted the tension for me.
Hi there! I do agree that ep 7 and 8 seemed to have dragged on and side tracked the plot a bit (do we really need to know Asamisan's passion for acting and the dialogue between him and his bartender friend?) - yet the "slowness", if defined as romantic ambiguity and tension, is the very essence of a kind of dramatic aesthetic a lot of Japanese BLs are after. To some there lies great satisfaction in the witness of the building of tension - which is like smelling the scent of a tea that is almost ready - the process of brewing hints at something that's almost there but not quite yet, which builds anticipation from little dopamine boost in each subtle action. Thai show might be your cup of tea if you aren't big fan of this type of story and style.
May I offer another perspective: This show is top-tier in creating such atmosphere (with strong emphasis on realism) should you give J BL scene a scan -- the cinematic lighting that brings out the mood in a realistic way (you can almost imagine yourself situated in the same space as the actors) - as compared to overexposed window lights and blurriness in "Living With Him" or the pink filter in "My Beautiful Man" (with different aesthetic goal) - as well as nuanced sound design bringing audience closer to the scene, and the sound track, is absolutely amazing. The OST theme song (as played in the clip above) brings alive the mood of a feeling budding, brewing, intensifying, bursting, something dreamy, the blurring of reality and fiction, the hope and desperate longing for something unattainable...
My theory is that slice-of-life realism is emphasized greatly to let shine the contrast between TV fiction & actor's reality.
As with the characters - I must say personally I have struggled with the urge to cut Shirasakikun's bangs (and his soft jawline...) for quite some time. It is indeed a very subjective preference - my perspective is, the character styling design is done really well (Saki's bangs improved and Asami's outfits are to die for), the casting stands quite true to the essence of the original manga (Asami's tender downturned eyes, although the flintiness quite significantly tuned down; Shirasaki's big, determined and stubborn eyes).
What makes them different from the rest of J BL characters?
I am not quite sure. The tropes are still there -- the suppressed star, the star's longstanding crush on the small potato; the grooming of the small potato to fall for a man. 2500 Akasaka resembles a lot "Cherry Magic", "My Personal Weatherman" and especially "I Became the Lead of a BL drama".
Perhaps the difference lies on how realistic these two characters are -- the way they talk and act have this realistic naturalness. At least from translation, these manga-adapted characters are not forcing together some make-believe lines. The acting: precise, subtle, relatively natural looking at manga adaptation). The show takes time to show that these 2 characters, beyond being the typical BL couples as love-brain as audience would expect, are human beings with not just ambitions and worries, but also little habits and preferences (nope, the coffee cups are too costly on their website > in last ep), the colour grading shift...all great directorial choices.

I KNOW what took them so long in this BL of Japanese boys love it's like confusing for me but now finally it's over and now I realized it now it's no wonder Japanese boys love is a little bit boring but it's not as boring as the one from Thailand and Taiwan oh they show their true feelings towards each other and they show romantic scenes lovable scenes and caring for the one you love I like those too the most the bill from Thailand it's already been passed now we have to wait 120 days for it for it to be legalized I'm really excited
I would recommend The Unknown from Taiwan bl, the couple took so long to be together because there were complications but I don't think it's boring at all... quite intense actually. The plot. The nc in the end was even more... every ep is worth it.

I wish there were some dialogues .. it’s understandable all the pent up emotions but they made us suffer for last 2 episodes. There was a build up but the last ep it just kind of fizzled out.
Fizzled out? I felt that they finally connected with each other and were able to “release” how they really felt abut each other. This was a classic Japanese BL. I thought it was beautifully done.
