I'm 42 now. Became friends w/Chains as a 15yo mega groupie in '88. They were so sweet to tolerate my epic affection, just super nice guys. I wish every fan in the world could've seen them rock the shit outta tiny clubs around Seattle. Hell, even an old VFW Hall in Bremerton called Natasha's...like 150 ppl there, mostly friends, n just a huge party. I'm flat out HONORED 2 b around that "scene" from the jump-- AiC, Mother Love Bone, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Nirvana...way before kids were buying ripped up flannels n Docs at dept stores. That music was and IS still the shit that just kicks me in the gut n squeezes my heart. Layne's voice is nothing short of AMAZING...hell, the whole band was amazing...shit, sorry for the life story guys...haha

Funny to see how they went from glam to grunge. Though I felt that grunge suit them way more. Alice in Chains are one of those bands that summed up the reality of things and what seemed good was really nothing more than a cover up to hide the fact this world is one fucked up place. Well like any grunge band that was really the message they were trying to sell but Alice in Chains songs where like fucking eye-openers.
