Awesome video! I ran a Volvo shop for 22 years till the l0ckdowns bankrupted it when nobody drove. I can't tell you how many times we called the dealer with either VIN or more reliably radio part and serial number to retrieve the code for customers! Usually when they got their battery changed elsewhere. When we did that, we always hooked a jump starter box up under the hood so everything stayed powered. Often the automatic windows would lose their calibration and have to get re-initialized also, using the diagnostic system VIDA. As far as I know, no way to fudge that procedure. Volvo turned into something it absolutely wasn't originally over the course of my career beginning around 1989. Used to be people kept their 240s forever, we'd frequently have cars in the shop with 1/4 to 1/3 million miles. After Ford bought it change accelerated rapidly, and when the Chinese company Geely took over, the writing was on the wall. Now the cars are overpriced, and WAY too many things go wrong with them. Instead of being loyal customers, original owner would get rid of their 2012+ cars after 5 years and swear "I'm NEVER buying another Volvo again!"
Thx for the comment, appreciate 👍 I had to give a call to the dealership as well to get mine but they told me that the car is so old so all data is in archive already and to retrieve it from there is going to cost me I dont remember how much. So I decided to deal with it myself 😂
Worked fine. I just disconnected the negative on the battery instead of touching the wires at the back. I was lucky enough to find the codes written in the glove box. Thanks.
Absolutely awesome. I have just found the code on my 20 year old volvo s40. Haven't been able to listen to the radio in year. Your advice worked exactly how you explained. Very happy, thank you so much.
@@ajs32tricopter Really useful advice, saved me a lot of time, stress and hassle of trying to find a specialist. Don't see many on the roads now, really like mine and enjoy driving it. Still feels like new though it has only covered a little over 50k miles. Thanks 👍🏼
I can confirm this also works on HU-555 ! Only two small differences, you have to press the "News" button instead of "Auto". The other one is that the blinking on F0, F1, F2 and F3 is a little bit different, but just set it to F0 and write down the digits on number 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th, AFTER F0. For example if it says F0020103040.... your code is 2134.
Thank you infinitely got a s40 with the hu-655 recently bought it with little paperwork, radio said OFF and my heart sank!😢 the interior is still mint and looks like it has a great sound! Now i need to go do your steps slowly and make sure it works i dont want to change that vintage radio for new led crap ❤
Thanks! Unlocked my Hu-605 by changing the value at slot 62 to 0 and getting the code from slot 61. The way of entering was test mode and the menu was slightly different; pressing first “new” and on and then the “auto” button and on the second time to reach the menus.
The process is the same, but when entering the memory the codes are different, I cannot locate myself in the F6. I changed a number by mistake and I didn't know what number it was, so I re-entered the memory
I have a wierd problem. If u can help me out. I have a h-605 so when I enter eprom I navigate to 62 it says 0000 and 61 where my code is it says FFFF.... So no code. I have tried to put in a code and exit eprom and turnd of and reseting power with taking out the power cord from behind to reset power. When I ennter eprom again it still says FFFF on 61 so I dont know what to do. Du u have any sugestion?
Thank you for tour tutorial, I have gone starting my Volvo radio It was off, and the Code unblocking didn't work, so now I can dance another time while I'm driving
i'll try in HU 655 ... in our country precisely to my city i live, i've tried to volvo specialist workshop and they gave up to find the code...i'll try this tonight , thank u for sharing...
Hi. You have saved my day. I`m so happy now my radio works. Thank you and good luck in everything you like to do in future. I`m lucky because of you. Feel embraced.
Don't work for me, i have a OFF mode in and when i try to go to EEPROM i have a FFFF at 61 where my vode ahould be, but when i put in a code and remove the cable to reset i OFF-mode it still is in OFF mode and in the EEPROM i still dont have my code, any helpo for this problem? Thanks
😃👏🙏👍 Hi there. Thank you so much for sharing this video. You are genius!! I just bought my little Volvo V40 today and never tried the radio til on way home and - no code! - Found your video and did everything you said and it worked first time and I've now got my code. Your instructions were clear and spot on! Thank you very much. Have a great day
Hi. All these radios should be similar in operations. Try following the guide and press buttons on the same locations like in the video. It will be more testing so proceed with caution
You could try pressing same buttons and see where it will take you. The internal architecture of the memory should be more or less the same I assume. Just dont change or save any new settings and if you get lost in the menu, disconnect the battery and start over again
Looks impressive. I'm changing the steering stalks on my S40 next week so will be disconnecting the battery, so I'll trying your method soon after. Cheers!
Hello! My wife entered the number 3 times, wrongly. I have my ID number, I don't need a new number. How can I unlock it? I write from Mexico City. Thank you very much 🙏🏻 Greetings
Hey. If you know the pin number, just wait for 2 or 3 hours so the radio will be ready to accept the code again and enter it later. When you enter the code wrongly, the radio goes into locked state for several hours, you can either wait or disconnecr the battery and connect it back resering the radio
Hi. You definitely can do the same on you radio too, but there is different way of entering the menus as well as how radio stores the info. You can use this video as general guide, but not as step by step instruction to retrieve the code from you particular radio

Merci, ça a marché pour moi aussi. Un coup de chance d'avoir trouvé ce tuto... Bien expliqué...
Are the eeprom codes for antitheft accessible/retrievable through the radio as well?
The eeprom of the radio stores data only about the radio itself. Like station presets, radio settings and so on
Great video it actually worked was a little bit hard to understand but we got there excellent thank you
