Hi Andy, I just received my 12V 280AH Gobel battery last week. Same damage as yours only mine had a few more plastic pieces off the top where the balance wires run. Same pushed in bracket, scratch and shallow dent on side of #4 cell almost identical to yours. I did not remove my damaged bracket. I reassembled with 1/8 inch thick high density rubber matting (~$30 worth ) on bottom and all four sides and a couple strips on top as well to keep the pack from shifting. I wish Gobel would have done the same as I think it would have kept damage due to shipping from happening. My cells are matched in voltage but I have not has a chance to charge fully and discharge fully to see how the battery and cells react. Hopefully the battery is OK. My cost for the Basic model was $540 total including shipping to USA. I ordered Feb 26 and it got to my home April 22. My use is marine on my 35 foot sailboat. Gobel should consider selling it as a kit with 1/8 inch rubber matting to line the interior and shipping the case and battery cells separate. I know $$$ cost of shipping but if those cells came all nice and packed in foam and the metal case and BMS in a separate box - Well 5 frogs!!! Thank you for your review I wish it was three months sooner. Got to pull the trigger at some point and I think it is going to work out fine. Now I have to get it in the boat and wired up :)

Great video Andy! So sorry for your loss.💔 I have had to go through this so many times with our cat's one of which was 21 years old. It's always heart breaking but we have to remember that unfortunately the reality is we will always out live most of our pets in our life time. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your videos and most of all the big smile you always put on my face. I absolutely love your sence of humor!!!!😁

I believe that this battery is aimed for the RV industry - Small footprint (removable handle) and waterproofing designed to be installed outside for easier compliance with the new battery regulations from November (last year - Lithium cannot be installed in habitable area and must be vented to outdoor space) Too bad the waterproofing didn't hold up. I wonder if this was also from the transport damage? I guess we'll never know unless Gobel send you another sample to test again!

I was reading the Eve LF304 datasheet, and it says that it needs to be compressed to 300kg before doing any tests. I was always fearful of tightening the screws to hard...
But yeah, I have Eve LF304 grade A cells that easily fit in my EEL box (eel is better available than seplos in EU, and while I always need to connect to support, they always fix things). A set of Eve LF304 grade B cells were not so easy to fit. I added one compression rubber sheet and I needed to adjust the compression plate over the length of 12 hours.
The grade A needed at least 3 sheets.

0502’24/0020h 🇺🇸 0503’24/1720h 🇦🇺 Hallo mein Freund, danke für die Bewertung der Gobel Power-Batterie. I thought so too about the shoddy construction, with AL cabinet and support struts. JBL has become a standard system BMS, which is great. The newer models are even better. The annoying 6 Blue and Black cables and no more, replaced with sturdy Cu threaded 6mm tabs easy to bolt on and looks great. I’ve gone through your enhanced JBL configuration and made changes to mine. Thank you for that. Best wishes und 73s.

Andy, may I use this great video to ask bit off topic; when using battery bms (such as great new jk-bms) to externally control your Victron MPPTs do you recommend using these BMSs also as a battery monitors in example cerbo gx or do you recommend using the shunt? Finishing my first setup and thinking which to use. You have both options in cerbo gx.
Would be also great to have update what settings you have currently overall in your cerbo/venus system. Many thanks, I love this channel. 😅

I liked the casing actually and the charge/discharge printed on its side. After all, it's not ment for stationary and might see some prying eyes and hands before it's 'end of life' .

Seems crazy that you buy cells that are delivered in foam packaging but you buy a battery in a cheap tin can where you can't see if parts have broken loose without destruction of the case.
For me that's too many uninsulated connections and unprotected cables aside from the battery block supported by plastic lugs and flimsy spot welded brackets. I give one frog for matching spec but lose four for hopeless design.
