  • Margaret ‘Margie’ Terrazas-Santos was a Queer Xicana activist, social worker, and Professor at Saint Mary's College. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Terrazas-Santos lived an active life dedicated to working with her local community, including when she helped to establish our annual Día de los Muertos community celebration.
Inspired by the Chicana/o/x Movement, Margie created “Calli Americas,” a collection of Xicana/o/x graphics she assembled from working with artists and community members. Her goal was to build a “home” or institution where the collection could be used to educate about the histories and ancestral legacies of Xicanx peoples.
Experience intergenerational, feminist, queer, and Xicanx-Indigenous artworks offering ancestral forms of liberation, healing, and being at Calli: The Art of Xicanx Peoples, on view through January 26, 2025.
