I heard a woman at 20:48, humming "hmm" tones going up "hmmm" tones going down, as if she was playing with a Baby on her knees. Her voice sounds very content and playful. It's nice to hear a happy ghost.😊

I remember visiting this place as a child when it was still occupied, just on the outside. It's set in such a magnificent part of countryside. We sometimes go for walks there now. Such a shame it fell to ruin, but the economics of restoring it are unworkable. It will happen to a lot of large country houses in Scotland (and other countries). They are just too big for anyone to manage or afford now. Would cost 3,000 quid a month for heating. When you realise there is a housing shortage of 3 million homes in the UK and then you see this.

From the outside, it was massive and well built walls. I would have loved to see this beautiful ruin 500 or more years ago. A terrible shame it couldn't be saved. It is haunting in its ruined state. Great explore, risky too...

Such a shame, parts of this house go back centuries. Can't believe how bad it's got. Won't mention name or location but there are several videos of this house over the years. The last occupiers were two sisters, one having died in the 1980's and the other the early 90's. They seemingly only lived in a couple of the rooms. It has been in the same family hands for centuries and they should be utterly ashamed letting it get into this state. It is on a working estate with cottages around that are holiday homes, pretty crap ones if you read the google reviews! The owners of the estate have always been anti-selling saying they had plans for the house to be turned into holiday accommodation, sadly that has never materialised.

Such a shame to see buildings with actual owners being left to decay. They should be forced to pony up to preserve them or made to sell them on to someone (private buyer or some kind of historical/other org) who will actually keep them up. Great video, you've got a new fan.

What a magnificent place. There's still enough left that we can imagine how grand it must have been many years ago. Sad that no one was able to recycle materials from this house. I'm sure someone got things like chandeliers or perhaps some of the plumbing. But oh my word, would I love to see those staircases or wooden doors recycled into another home to be loved by someone. Very sad that such craftsmanship will now disappear. ~Sherrie in South Carolina (USA)

I once explored a massive mansion in West Yorkshire neae Halifax. with huge range of buildings attached. Worse condition than this. It was bought and completely renovated, remember s huge tower crane in it's courtyard. Now absolutely unaffordable apartments within the structure. Original staircase restored with glass walled lifts serving 4 floors of absolute luxury. Basement gym and 25m pool with spa etc. Outbuildings divided into 4 floor luxury townhouses with use of spa and pool. Only £1.25m each... 3 bed ensuite apartments like £750,000! Service charge £1200 per month!! Ridiculous! Surprised nobody buys any ofvthe hotels and mansion you explored, have better grounds and views.
Leads by motorway only 13 minutes, by train 8 minutes and London 2hrs. Ones you're explored too far from anywhere but more magnificent.

Great spot. Looked a bit haired up but still so cool looking, and as others have said, really must've been something back in the day. Could tell by the doors and woodwork toward the end of the video that the central staircase was way grand! So sad another bit of history wil be a shell soon, like some of the other extremely old stone dwellings you've explored. Thanks for the effort of touring this place before it disappears. Wasn't exactly easy for sure! You do have some beautiful countryside there.

The key broke in the front door and it was 6 months before they could get someone to repair it

I last visited around 6 or 7 years ago at whch time you could walk in the front door, the windows were not bricked up then either, I am astounded at how much it has deteriorated over the years, barely recognisable inside now, lovely big main staircase cillapsed too, what will become of it I wonder?

It must have been beautiful before it started falling apart. Quite a maze getting through the building. Very dangerous inside and outside.

What a tragic loss to not repurpose the grand master carpenters beautify work and architecture ! The staircase and doors are beautiful. I was able to understand through your thick accent, "Are you stay'n Here?" said to the girl, I would have agreed with her!

Here is the other question, I've never been to auld brigaduen ( Brigadoon), I have heard there are auld gohsts, popping up in that wee tad of a place.... I was going to check in on it but I went away to Canada at that time...
...but, anyway, I heard that there was the white houses, like Orkney,there.... could be bullocks.lol

That place looked somewhat great from the outside. Alec, did you previously do a video to this place? If so, could you please send me the link? I’m curious to see how much it changed. I’m glad you and Scott got in and out of this trashed mansion in one piece. Thumbs up 👍 from me. Thank you 😊

I dated a Scotsman back in the 90's. He died but I kept friends with his mother until she died a few years ago. I once was accustomed to the accent and lingoes but it's been a while, and I forgot. I'm sure if I watch a few more of your videos, it will come back to me. Nice old castle, such a shame it fell into such disrepair. Why did the girl stay behind? I would have been in there in a heartbeat.
