- I am building my own Lego Castle Fantasy world. Each part will be a new add on to the world and building out the lore of the world. Fostholm is a cold frozen land with many dangers and next to the sea is the small village of IcePoint. Today's video looks at the first plate which is the front gate.
This build was inspired by the Lego ideas Viking Village, the Lego Vikings theme and the CMF Snow Guardian.

As a Norwegian I think it would be very neat to have a little reference to a famous painting if two Viking soldiers skiing down a hill I'm not joking Google it love your content keep up the good work
Just googled it😂 that is amazing! Thank you so much!
Very cool idea! You could even use those blue colored flat brim kettle helmets from Nexo knights for archers.
My interest has peaked. I'd love to hear more about Your world in the future
Fun idea! I’ve often daydreamed about what could be built around this CMF. Can’t wait to see how it develops.
Right! This cmf is awesome and it really made me think about what type of would he lived in!
It would be cool if there was like some sort of possibly peaceful creature (at least until disturbed) which would pretend to be a chunk of ice or snowy rock, and it could have a little face. Great video btw!
Oh those would be a lot of fun to do!
Fantastic start man! New mocs are always so exciting
Thank you!
I suggest making Frostholm an island, as a holm is a small island in Norwegian.
Build a snow dragon to terrify the villagers
That would be sick!
Hey! I love your focus on retro lego themes, and I really like how you speak about their lore, I would recomend you make a discord server that allows subscribers of this small community to speak about their ideas and interact with eachother, would sure be fun to interact with people who have the same nieche love for classic lego themes
What might be another good idea for the road parts would be to make use of whatever sun damaged white bricks you have laying around.. they could portray dirty/muddy snow that people are constantly walking through
That’s actually a really smart idea!
Very crazy first modul! 👍
But in my opinion you made one relative big mistake, the ground level should be raised by 2 bricks - explanation:
1. The Norse not only build their houses directly on the ground level, sometimes they dig out more then only the sod, which means you have to build lower walls on the outside because the first and/or the second Brick of the height is already done.
2. The palisade of a settlement is nothing which was build as fast as possible.
It means that there is often a small ditch and the earth/rocks which are digged out were used to create a small dam as foundation for the palisade.
If you create a ditch which is 2 bricks deep and 5 studs wide, you can use the same as foundation for the palisade and of course you can fill the ditch with water.
*palisade*
Somebody said that your palisade construction is not high enough to be realistic - I think your 7 bricks height is realistic - with a scale of 1to42 your palisade is round about 2.80 meters high
(with an earthy/rocky foundation of two bricks it will be 3.60 meters)
*construction of houses*
Do not only build wooden houses, there are several houses which are build with a wooden framework and braided willow twigs which are coated by clay.
_(if you need examples then look for Haithabu, it was a settlement in northern Germany - nowadays reconstructed)_
-> the plots were often surrounded by wattlework or small palisades
_(you can use droid arms and short bars to create such fences)_
-> *very important:* don't forget a place to chop timber and a garden area in front of or near every house!
This sounds comical but it is historically correct because the villagers of a settlement tried to harvest as much as possible inside the safe area of the settlement.
_("you don't have to buy or trade what is already yours")_
*buildings*
Please include some buildings like:
- small harbour or an anchorage
- shipyard
- carpenter
- bowmaker/fletcher
- well
- stavechurch
- weaver/draper
- bonecarver _(produces pearls, combs, whalebone plaques, handles for knifes and swords, ... out of bone and antler)_
- marketplace with several stands
*dangers*
- Fenriswolf (or a wolfpack)
- seasnake
Hopefully you can understand my english and your head isn't burning in case of to much Information ;)
A few potential things to include: a sled shed and a dog kennel; a deer (reindeer preferably) corral; a bear monster (giant polar bear with ice powers?); a grain elevator and wind mill; at least a few huscarls (dane-ax-wielding bodyguards for the jarl; might be a great use for the lamellar armor print from the latest Viking sets, with white and blue legs and arms); an ice fishing scene; bee hives and a distillery (gotta make that mead).
Definitely some great ideas here! Will keep them under consideration!
Look forward to seeing this series progress! Great first baseplate
Appreciate It!
I would add some dark tan foilage on top of the green to represent some dead grass since it's winter.
Oh I didn’t even think about that! Very good idea!
Cool idea, looking forward to it! 😊
Looks great so far! One small suggestion is to make the walls a few bricks taller to give a more realistic height. But the overall level of detail is very good!
Thank you! Yeah might build them a bit higher!
I think a fur trapper's shack could be a cool addition and he/she catches something.... "above their pay grade"
One small suggestion is making the ground below roofs more of a mix between soil and snow.
Of yeah a fur trapper would be great!
Maybe add some randomly placed translucent plates in the worn WagonTracks/SledTracks part of the road, to look like IcePuddles.
Not a bad idea!
@@BrickingUpBrad, If ya have a spare MiniFig in EnemyColors, try DarkRed for frozen blood, BTW. Just mound some white around the puddle, and have the DarkRed look SunkenIn, as if the snow melted a little. ❄️🩸❄️
It's not "Violent War" if it's just a ReEnactment. 🤷🍻🤷
Amazing idea I love this
I love the sheepskin tanning bench. Great job for a fist part! Keep going.
Ideas for monsters: look into Nexo Knights series 2 for golem / rock troll pieces (there is 3 brother's catapult set - that can be made into a nice huge rock monsters) - you can add icicles on them to show they are frozen. If you make a frozen lake somewhere next to the walls you can add a frost dragon's lair next to it with a dragon coming out of it + fishing spot.
I would also suggest to make sure you have ample supply of hay and edibles in a storage shed (maybe you can use the new red herrings to add some color to the fish rack).
Thanks so much! I actually love the sheepskin to!
Great ideas! I will at the least be doing a fishing spot!
Looks great! I’m excited for this series, I greatly enjoy your content as I grew up in the 80’s and Castle LEGO is what did.
Only suggestion is on your town road maybe fit in a few trans blue tiles to represent ice?
Thanks you so much!
That’s actually a really good idea! Will have to do that!
Looks like a good start, interested to see what comes next!
Thanks so much! Definitely got some cool stuff in the works!
This looks awesome!
I need to get the CMF snow guardian
I'm pretty sure there other ice themed warrior CMF minifigures
He is a great figure! The only other one off the top of my head I can think of is the ice queen.
If LEGO had made the transparent version of the Rock Raiders rock monster that appeared in LEGO Racers 2, it would’ve been perfect for your MOC.
So true!!! Maybe I can try to build something like that out of bricks!
Could be a polar bear skin tanning
I think you should create some kind of combination between the yeti and the snow monster from Frozen.
I was thinking about something like the snow monster from frozen!
@@BrickingUpBrad perhaps an ice turtle or a mix of a ice scorpion and a ice spider
@@vvvdrkvvv that would also be cool!
the only thing I would change is change the guards to archers
Looks GREAT! Hope to see more!
Thank you! Already have some great ideas for the second plate!
Woo! MOC lore! Great video, and I really hope you do more of these!
Thank you! Honestly I love building my own lore so I really want to do way more of these!
Long time no see! Perhaps an ice golem would be a cool creature🤔
That would be cool!
This looks incredible! Looking forward to your next installment, Brad!
Looks great! I’m excited to see it continue
Thank you! I have many ideas for lore and more builds! Hoping to start on more plates soon!
Few years ago Lego creator 31102 had a red scorp build which was really good. Maybe touched up and in white/blue you could make a fantasy frost scorpion out of that?
And do you have the mamoth? And you need a frost witch definitely.
That’s not a bad idea!
@@dgray3771 I have the frost witch cmf and have some ideas around her!
@@BrickingUpBrad You could also look at the build for the tusken set the half tent. It could make a yurt 🛖 and in a more frosty color setting. Nomadic style that is.
@@dgray3771 I will definitely look into that!
Hii love your content❤
Thank you so much!
I love those white helmets and weapons! Where did they come from?
Some were from the Harry Potter chess set. Others from ninjago
make a wendigo
IS THE SHEEP DEAD
Build a snow brute from lego fortnite
I will probably do my own version of that
