also, for those that dont know the TVA is called the tennessee valley authority. they’re the governing body that effectively governs the entire stretch of the tennessee river and a lot of the land along side it.

I am a history nerd and I always loved this music video. It is full of history. I am from the Midwest and this song speaks to us here as well. The Midwest went through the exact same thing as the South back then.
These days it's hard to imagine a country music band could praise a Democrat or left-wing ideas or politics. Aside from Garth Brooks' "We Shall Be Free," I can't think of any that really come close.
@@brucethomas3100 Probably but on economic issues at least the FDR Democrats were still far more leftwing than the modern crew. He was largely the one that really opened the Democrats up to black people and to a large extent was a big part of the realignment from the old days of Dems being the conservatives and Republicans being the progressives.
Nailed it. Gen X still had a Depression-era family in our lives. I don't know about you but the idea of wasting food was a no-go in my family and I am stuck on that today. You are thankful for anything put on your plate and you eat it. You don't waste it. My Grandparents, Great uncles, and aunts went to bed with no food during the depression. It was drilled into me and I cringe whenever I see people leave or throw out their food at a dinner. A different generation that knew hardship and hunger.
Country music is music from the heart. People should dig into country music more and enjoy what they find. I don't believe in labels like country music, rock music, etc.any group is just- music. I hope you enjoy country music. I have for years.
This is a song about renewing and moving forward. The South came out of the Civil War wrecked. That is the reference to the 'gone with the wind" and how we need to not look back and move beyond it to something better. The video shows how the 1930's Depression devastated the country. People lost their asses.. and powered through.. The end is about coming together and moving forward together as a new south with everybody.
If you haven't done so, listen to Alabama,40 Hour Week. You will love it.It gives props to everyone.Me being from Tennessee, the TVA (Tennessee valley authority) was about the only half decent job but still low paying, then alcohol aluminum opened up and then Oak ridge national laboratories.
Well I think I found this before I was supposed to, just to let you know the playlist is public so we can find the videos in it even if they’re unlisted. Also for when this gets made public, this really was the first comment, I found this unlisted with 0 likes and 2 views with no comments.
I just came from your most recent Metallica reaction. This is a great song that I haven’t heard in a while. (I LOVE Metallica but classic country is my favorite genre.) I’ll see if you’ve reacted to the song Louisiana Saturday Night yet. If not then you should. Good stuff. Prolly the Democrats that his Dad grew up with were considered the more conservative Blue Dog Democrats.
