Most modern relationships are based on looks and lust. Lust always is the first to dissolve in a relationship followed by looks. When those are gone (usually in the first year or two if not sooner given the “options culture” in which we live) the only thing left is love, and since people got together because of lust and looks in the first place there is no love. These women have nothing to offer other than looks and lust. “I’ll find a man who accepts me for who I am.” There is nothing “there” to accept other than a sex robot who is wealthy. They have no character, no opinions based on personal experience, no moral convictions they can defend…they are just pretty shells. Throughout history marriages were arranged and people were awfully lucky if they were paired with someone who was decent to look at. Shakespeare was the first to voice an objection to this with his play Romeo and Juliet and his collection of sonnets which celebrated looks and lust and attractive qualities. This idea was picked up by Hollywood and spread around the world (except for China and Russia and most of the Middle East and Africa.) However these areas have since opened up and you can see the problems of lust based marriages manifesting, especially in China or Taiwan and Japan.
It’s easy to say “I don’t need a man” when you’re surrounded by a male based support system, but once that is gone (and it will disappear) it becomes a different story. There will not be “my truth” but “the truth.” You will be alone, vulnerable to attack and abuse and unable to help yourself because men have given up and disappeared down their own rabbit hole or despair. Best advice I can give young men is to avoid these sex robots and find someone who has a similar view to you about marriage. With that foundation you can pursue things that bring fulfillment to men; adventure, personal honor, career, value to community, and pursuit of hobbies. Finally, there is truth in the old song, “If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife.” Remember, it was Hollywood that popularized the “pretty couples” idea…nobody wants to go to a movie and see ugly people…but real life is filled with ordinary people.
