  • Joseph Parker says the best is yet to come after his first win under new trainer Andy Lee. The Kiwi heavyweight has conceded he took his "foot off the accelerator" against Derek Chisora but blamed an elbow injury, sustained during the fight, for slowing him down. Parker was knocked down after just seven seconds of the opening round and looked to have lost the first four rounds but gathered his composure to bravely see off a tiring opponent.
It was the final fight in his deal with Matchroom Boxing, and he is now eyeing an immediate re-match with Chisora, while Dillian Whyte and Andy Ruiz are the other possibilities. Joseph Parker survived a predictable onslaught from Dereck Chisora to earn a controversial split decision win in their heavyweight boxing contest in Manchester on Sunday.
The judges scored it 115-113 Chisora, 116-111 Parker and 115-113 Parker for a win that earned the Kiwi the vacant WBO intercontinental title and keeps him relevant with that powerful organisation where he is a former champion.

Look at Chisora's record, Sam Sexton twice, Dillian Whyte twice, Tyson Fury twice, Vitali Klitschko, David Haye, Helenius, Pulev, Takam, Usyk, Parker. Proper old school fight anyone anywhere is Del Boy.

You don’t know what he is feeling. 12 rounds of getting body punched and tying up grappling between punches thrown may have tired him out. He may have been feeling he needed to pace himself. He never impressed me. A large guy who boxes with minimal power, ties up a lot and low punch output is bound to be involved in many close split decisions. He is like watching grass grow. There are hundreds of big strong heavyweights like Chisora across America with average speed and endurance. Nothing special. You could see how this fight would play out from the first round. Chisora winning rounds early without enough damage and Parker tying him up until he slowed down. Nothing special here.

Totally agree! He keeps pulling back and watching for a couple seconds and then the moment is over. I think his confidence got really shook up when he got caught clean a couple times by Takam and, later, Ruiz. Would love to see Andy Lee drilling that bad habit out of him and making him more alert and watchful. I think it could fix a lot of issues and open up more opportunities to hurt his opponent. After watching this fight 4 times, this being the best quality Parker actually showed a lot of improvement. Good movement and shot selection. His fitness was the best I’ve seen in a while. He landed the cleaner shots. Andy Lee as his trainer was a big difference. His old trainer Barry would of had Parker looking for the knock out and Chisora is not the guy to do that with. I think Parker would of gotten knocked out. As for Chisora, why the hell did he bring in Buddy McGirt??? He did nothing for him. Outside of the knock down, some good body shots (a lot of them smothered) and a few right hands he didn’t make any adjustments. No robbery here, Parker’s team had the better game plan and made the adjustments.

He's giving his stomach to be a punch that is the part of the boxer body when it weakens the boxer to be humiliated. His handlers know where he is lacking after a long lay off. They will know where Parker is at after the next three fight. Jab is back, more speed, he'll be very dangerous. Good luck with the next fight.

In most of Parker's fights, his chin has been tested and proven. However, in this fight, the back of his head was tested. There was actually a bump in the back of the head haha.

What makes it look like chisora is winning is hes landing punches in the clinches and hitting him at the back of the head but those ain't counted. Parker landed the cleaner punches
