I'm a American black women and my husband is American white German southern man.we been married for 32years and it's ok and normal to be interracial RELATIONSHIP because after all we are all human . Just different skin color. And I don't care about the color.. what I do care about is his heart and the way he treats me and love me. So nothing else do matter. We have adult son, and he looks all white but everyone knows he our son...so our relationship is about trusted love and happiness and being with each other..that our button line..our love is called burning love..never fall out of love..
I found my future wife, finally. She happens to be Haitian American. We have similar personalities and want the same things out of life. We are actually looking for a place to live together right now. She is smart, sensitive, kind and really family oriented. We have these super long conversations and never run out of things to say to each other. I have never had a relationship like this before where I just knew when we met and have felt really secure in our relationship and our future. Just my opinion, but, if you limit your choices for a romantic partner you also limit the chances of you finding a person that you could find and truly be happy with.
I like how you both have strong individual identities and are proud of who y'all are and where y'all come from. And as a Black person, she makes me proud to know that a person can marry outside their race (to a white person of southern roots, at that) and still have a healthy view of herself and her culture. You don't have to lose yourself to gain the love of someone else. He also has a very realistic approach to life and his wife and any future kids. I think it's called *empathy.*

I just love the fact that after she said that, you didn't jump all over her and understood. Because even for me, as a Black man, it took me a long time to remove all the hate that society told me I should have for myself. Society literally teaches us that White is better. Even from the small things: like someone telling a white lie vs. someone telling just a lie. I am currently reading Toni Morrison's Bluest eye, which is such a powerful book about how society has taught us that blue eyes is the standard of beauty. It is programmed so deeply, that I truly believe many people don't ever escape it. I thank God that I did.
I love you guys. I married a black lady in ‘82 and it was not easy. I was disowned by some of my family. I didn’t let that get me down. People have the right to love who they love. I live in the southwest and I am focusing on my goals and inspiring young people but I do know that in this country there are discrimination.

Happey67 the Puerto Ricans treat people differently than Dominicans treat people by skin tone, sorry they are not the same. Many Puerto Ricans own that dark skin as being Black. Puerto Rican women will marry Puerto Rican Men who are dark in skin tone.
Also a Mexican thing, I worked in an office of mostly Hispanic women. My secretary was an older white woman (she called herself the battleaxe). Anyway my secretary put up a calendar of the USC football team and the comments from the ladies were not what I expected. Basically, "Oh he's too dark" in about ten different ways. I mean these guys were all college age athletic specimens of manhood. Great looking young guys going to a high end university. But all they really talked about was how some were too dark for them.

I commend you for your openess with your story. I have heard that Dominicans denounce the afro part of their race and that they have been told by their family members to not marry or have children with a darker complected person. Smh.

Most dominicans are not black, look up the race statistics on the dominican republic... and i hope most dominicans stand strong and dont let black americans push them into simply saying they are black. They have mixed heritage, some with more african dna than others but as a whole, they are mixed race, and if you are going to force them to accept their "afro" dna, force them to accept their european and taino dna as well 😊

That's a Dominican thing. They love fair skin, it's in there history. Whitening the race.i had one tell me her daughter married white and she was so proud.

So true, we know. Even the Puerto Ricans could be as dark as night and they said they are white. Well they used to any way I don't they are saying that today.
EcClair Mayo True some people do, but they will treat according to hair texture and skin color. They are obsessed with fair skin, not everyone is like this, Dominicans have a reputation for this light skin obsession. I don't dislike them just stating what I have seen and witnessed with them.
Happey67 the Puerto Ricans treat people differently than Dominicans treat people by skin tone, sorry they are not the same. Many Puerto Ricans own that dark skin as being Black. Puerto Rican women will marry Puerto Rican Men who are dark in skin tone.
Also a Mexican thing, I worked in an office of mostly Hispanic women. My secretary was an older white woman (she called herself the battleaxe).
Anyway my secretary put up a calendar of the USC football team and the comments from the ladies were not what I expected. Basically, "Oh he's too dark" in about ten different ways. I mean these guys were all college age athletic specimens of manhood. Great looking young guys going to a high end university. But all they really talked about was how some were too dark for them.
