  • Barney Trimble And His Oklahomans [Irving Brodsky vel Ben Selvin’s Orchestra] - Huggable Kissable You, Fox-Trot (Bibo) with Vocal chorus by Marvin Young [Irving Kaufman], Velvet Tone 1929 (USA)
NOTE: According to the DAHR catalogue, the recording was waxed by Irving Brodsky's dance band on 9 April 1929 for the Columbia Records and repressed by its subsidiary labels such as Diva and Velvet Tone. However, at that time the nickname 'Barney Trimble' also appears as a nick for the Golden Gate and Ben Selvin’s orchestras ('Irving Brodsky' name was sometimes used by Selvin's band). What a maze of pseudonyms typical of 1920s dance orchestras. Another odd thing about this album (recorded in 1929) is its evidently acoustic sound, although the sound recording had been abandoned by Columbia Records after 1925.

Beautiful Fox-trot and music. Great Orchestra, voice and video. 1929 was an incredible year, full of contradictions, but fascinating at the same time, like the unforgettable Roaring Twenties. Thank you so much for sharing, Dear Grzegorz. Have a blessed evening 🙏🙋‍♂️🍀🎷🌺🎶✨

No doubt the pseudonyms were very confusing; whereas the Discography of American Historical Recordings claims this is the Irving Brodsky Orchestra indeed, Brian Rust is stating this actually is the Bar Harbor Orchestra, one of the many outfits led by Ben Selvin. Anyway, it's the music that counts, and this is a delightful version of the present famous 20's song. It may well be the very latest acoustic recording I've ever heard though (April 9th, 1929). Thank you very much for sharing!
