This remembers me to Edgard Varesse and Messiaen works, he uses contemporary resources to make music, if people doesn't understand this myabe they just need to hear more music
I'd like you to know the Proms have traditionally been a place where new music was showcased. It's only more recently with the TV broadcasts and a desire for ratings have they reduced the amount of new music played. Damn youth and their need for 'safe' ratings friendly music!
Search youtube for Carl Craig orchestra , Jeff Mills orchestra, The Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble. All good examples of classical and electronic music working well together. I was not impressed with the way the Gabriel Prokofiev piece was composed. turntablism can work , i just don't think it was executed very well on this occasion.
It seems to me that this work's only claim to innovation is that it uses a new "instrument". The actual compositional techniques are old hat. There's nothing here that hadn't already been done by 1920. Is that the deal nowadays, just utilize a sound that hasn't been brought into the concert hall before and, regardless of how good or bad your composition is, it'll get played? Time to get working on my concerto for reversing garbage truck and orchestra...

Good piece, much more successful than that shoddy Nero 'dubstep' symphony, squandered opportunity earlier this year. This piece has been around a while now, good to c it aired at the proms, wish I'd gone now! defo watching it sat
I got tired of this cacophony after only 5 seconds. My sympathy is with those people who were subjected to it AND paid for the dubious privilege of doing so. Music is becoming like art; has nothing to say about anything that human senses would appreciate.
Why do the youth have to inflict their growing pains on the nations institutional classics. Can't they just wait until they get older and then something will 'ring' in their consciousness and they will start to appreciate classical music the way it's been appreciated for generations! In the appropriate time-honoured way! All this popularisation crap!

@@lowawaq Не все полезно, что модно. А горизонты можно расширять в разные стороны и они всегда будут безграничны. Можно изучать бесконечно долго 160 оттенков дерьма и каждый раз находить новые вкусы и запахи этого дерьма. А можно расширять горизонты оттенков ароматов цветов и они тоже будут безграничны. Судя по всему мир идет как раз по пути расширения горизонтов изучения дерьма. Так почему все должны в этом участвовать? Поэтому расширяйте дальше свои горизонты в познании дерьма.
