I am from India and do not understand much of politics in Pakistan. But I find it absurd that you are asking an elected government to resign by organizing protest.
Akhilesh Bharti In a city like Los-Angeles, which has all this world has to offer, beauty, money, fame, luxury, and yes even crimes, I saw some years ago, a number of billboards put up by the city council to educate the citizens. The message read " Never confuse the Means with the Meaning!" This is human dilemma in the Muslim world particularly in Pakistan that we have confused what is the purpose and what are the means to achieve that purpose. The purpose is usually a constant but the means are always changeable. Our purpose as a citizen is to have a peaceful country where the rule is of LAW which is conducive to all citizen to achieve their personal goals. To achieve this primary purpose we have chosen, from many other means, the means of democracy, which is that the LAWS will be made by the people and every one will abide by those LAWS. What we miss sometime that laws are directly proportional to the situations. LAW changes when the Situation changes! Take for example the traffic law. Red light must not be jumped. On coming traffic lane must not be used, etc. etc. But the ambulances and police cars in an extra-ordinary situation do not adhere to this law. At this moment, when people have been sitting-ins in Islamabad for days under very trying conditions, the situation has become extra-ordinary. We can not go on saying that we will follow only whatever is written in the book. Emergency requires extraordinary ways contradicting the rules. In Islam it is called IJTEHAD or actions non-conforming the book but helpful in managing and solving the problem at hand. When the situation becomes normal the rules in the book return. The best example is that Muslims can eat pork if the situation is demanding it. Rules by nature are changeable because they are just the means to achieve some meaning, some purpose. Rules, by their nature can never be the meaning. So I urge My Pakistani fellow-men not to confuse the means with the meaning. The meaning and our purpose is to have a peaceful country. Happiness belongs to where peace is. Turmoil and chaos produces sadness, unhappiness and psychosis. Nothing else will happen to the Nation if the Prime Minister resigns, except that the dharna will come to an end. Peace will return. Every citizen, therefore, must rise above all other considerations and must urge the Prime Minister to RESIGN and provide relief from this stressful and painful dharna. This is the duty of all citizens to remind the Prime Minister of his duty and his responsibility to provide the citizens relief from every painful and stressful situation.
You want this dharna to end, don't you? Ask Nawaz Shareef to resign! it's that simple! He should resign. This is his responsibility to provide relief to the nation from this dharma. We, each one of us, have to take a stand now if you want this dharma to come to an end. Why are we not doing this?
