I work in DC and I don’t drink the water either. I bring a case of water and leave it under my desk. And shop wherever you feel comfortable shopping!

re bottled water: You could buy it in the gallon jugs and put it in a smaller bottle to drink. A little less plastic in use.
I've seen this suggested a few times! I just need to figure out a way to carry multiple gallon jugs up to my apartment lol
Lots of them have a handle. Another option is to get a small wagon/cart you can keep in your car or your closet and take with you only when you need to shop.

You can buy gallon jugs of purified water also if you wanted! It ends up being a bit cheaper and a bit less plastic (but honestly giant corporations are the real waste problem, not you buying one pack of water bottles lol) ❤

Can confirm that the water here in DC is pretty terrible. I would recommend getting some form of filter on your sink!
I love your couch/TV area rug. Perhaps you could swap out the square pillows for colorful round tufted ones to play with the circles in the rug? Either way it looks like you’re enjoying the settling in process!

@14:40 FYI... Once you open the Milk it won't last to May.. May is the sell by/shelf life date if unopened. It has to be consumed within one week after opening. I would check to see if it is still good after 7 days before consuming if it was opened.

I worked two years at Whole Foods. Sell by date is the date that a store can display/sell it before it goes bad. In most cases, it can still be consumed up to two weeks after that date if opened.
I disagree. Milk lasts for weeks after opening.
I live somewhere where the water is bad, I invested in a zero water. filter. Worth checking it out girl!!

I live in DC and I have a car and am the same…. Will only take one trip up to my apt with everything. Get a cart!! I got mine at Target, but Amazon has them too. It’s great. Fold ups and stores in the hall closet and fits in my trunk/ backseat

Get a cart or luggage carrier to bring up your groceries. I got one after getting a painful fractured pelvis from carrying too heavy of a box

Buy yourself a collapsable flat trolly That way can trolly groceries up your to your apartment Then return and store in your car
I second this, my mom got me one when I was in college and having to lug groceries, laundry, etc up and downstairs (we didn’t have an elevator). It was a game changer.

I've heard people say don't shop at Target or Walmart or Amazon or Temu and more stores for one reason or another. People should be able to shop where they like and if you don't agree, just don't do it. Mind your business. Charlotte, to be so young, you are doing a great job. Live your life in a way that makes you happy. You should buy one of the wagons people use that live in apartments. It will save your back and fewer trips back and forth to the car. Just remember to put it back in the car before you go shopping. Lol

I agree; I’m not tied to one store or another,( whichever has what I need or the best deal is where I’m going). I think a larger rug under your kitchen table would look more balanced. I meant to ask, how is the job hunt going?
Some of those stores are being boycotted for political reasons, so you will know if you support those causes or not. Mind your own business is socially thoughtless advice.

A vacuum sealer fir when you buy bulk meats would be really helpful. One of the best purchases I've made. And that way your meats last longer in the freezer.

They have gallon jugs and fridge ones instead of the bottles. Or even the water dispenser ones. They have attachments you can put on it instead of a full dispenser. 😊 still bottles, but cheaper in relation and less waste.

When we get bottled water we grab the gallons instead to slightly be less plastic then you can use cups to drink it

I love The Rookie! Last year I binge watched the first 5 seasons and now I'm up-to-date on the 6th one. I'm sad that the spin-off got cancelled though.

don't worry about where you shop. its about shopping smart, where i live home stuff is cheaper at walmart but it wont last and target has discounts tj max is the best place for home stuff. and food wise target in my area is cheaper not including coupons same with cleaning stuff than walmart. though i use kroger and walmart of since i have memberships with both so i get free delivery so i get mine food delivered.
You may want to get a wagon to bring your haul up to your apartment. They have wagons that you can fold up.

Reduced fat margarine makes toast soggy, so use that for cold bread, and the regular for toasted items!
Check what’s in your bottled water. A lot of them have more than just water…….Deer Park is the only brand where I live that only contains spring water.

I see that you buy Simply drink, you might wasn’t to try Gold Peak Tea that comes in Lemonade, Peach and plain Sweet Tea. It healthier than Simply Lemonade, Raspberry, etc.❤

Your videos are very refreshing to watch, as your positivity shines through both in your narration of daily tasks and your outlook of life in general. Well done. I grew up in the D.C. area, lived there in my 20s when I worked on the Hill, and now live in VA. When you have a chance this Spring and Summer, check out the Cherry Blossoms on the Tidal Basin, as well as the cute M Street shops in Georgetown. The blossoms will peak around the third week of March. Also, check out Tyson's Corner mall in McLean for some fantastic stores, and at some point get a group of friends and drive west on Rt.66 past Manassas, to visit wine country. It's only about one hour away as you drive toward Winchester, VA. I also recommend visiting Middleburg, VA. These are beautiful little towns in the Washington, D.C. area and are great for one-day trips out in the country. In any case, best wishes as you discover the wonders of D.C. :)

One thing most people don’t realize is that the eastern Panhandle of West Virginia is not far from DC. Where I live it’s not in the mountains, that’s the rest of the state. It’s the Shenandoah Valley. Mountains are not to far away but nothing like other parts of WV. It’s a beautiful state!
I live a hour away from DC, not far at all. Where I live it’s not that rural. Plus there is a lot of beautiful areas to visit here & also in Maryland & Virginia. Harpers Ferry is beautiful place to visit. And if you want really rural you can go a little further west to Berkeley Springs, a little historic spa town.
I drink that brand of milk. It does last a long time. I use if in my coffee.

I feeeeel you on the water, ours sucks here too. And I’m not a water snob, trust me if our water didn’t taste like salty soap (like you said, even after it’s filtered), I would gladly save money and drink tap water like I did when I lived somewhere with decent drinking water (and here until they started doing whatever it is they’ve been doing to ours the last several years.) I used to actually prefer our tap water to bottled water, but I don’t know what they’ve started doing to it, but it literally looks and tastes like it has soap in it (like it literally suds up like soap 😅) we don’t even give it to our dog, she drinks bottled water too 😂
If your building has a elevator just get a wagon load it up and pull it up much easier
You should make sure that there is no parfum or alcohol in hour hand balm. They will dry out your hands. 🌝

Shop were you want and can afford. Target and Amazon are great for deals. I also drink bottled water so it’s understandable. I’m weird about filters most of the time. I do however typically buy the store brand water (targets brand for water is good and gather) so it’s less money than the name brands
