Thank you very much. I'm already making plans - a portfolio/menu really - for next year (in between the rain!)

Excellent information thank you! I’ve been there many times mostly by kayak.
Did you see the wide channel that seems to lead from one beach to another.. local knowledge says it’s purpose could have been a way to haul a boat from one beach when it was too rough to launch to the other that may have been more sheltered. A type of tarbert?

Thanks for the lovely comment and fair play to you to go by kayak. One year I will do the same.... Interesting point about the channel. You could very well be right, cause the sea always seems calmer on the sandy side. Admittedly I have never been there during a storm... :-)

There’s a kayaking company called Paddle and Sea ( Steve and Emily) that do trips over to Beginish. They are based at the Marina in Caherciveen.

I've been reading about the similar culture the 2 have.

@@robintaylor4480 There were probably many similarities, but also some differences. Moreover, the Norse in Ireland probably eventually differed from Norse in Scandinavia, after adopting certain Irish customs, being influenced by the Irish language, etc.,
