    The greatest philosopher and most noble teacher in human history who completely transcended the physical life and pursued the absolute truth. The ultimate truth pursuer who felt that the ultimately absolute truth and true God certainly exist, but could not say exactly what they are, and said by death that mankind should find out and practice them. Only tears in his pursuit of ultimate truth beyond death ...

      I don't think a realistic person would title himself those things unless he made a living solely off it as it becomes a career, not just a hobby because in that sense everyone is an artist.

    • @billybobdeniro
      @billybobdeniro 7 лет назад +3

      Well, given that I work professionally in both fields (I get paid to act and to teach philosophy as an adjunct college instructor and make a living off of both), I would say it's a realistic claim on my part. However, to say one has to make a living doing either of these before one claims to use the title is a bit of a stretch, especially regarding actors. The majority of actors in the Screen Actors Guild are earning below poverty level. Yet, they are still considered actors not only by the union, but by others in the profession.

That's the only true way for highschool students to get the concepts of these books unless they're some kind of genius

    Thank you very much for creating and sharing. ---- Socrates could be much more than an actual person; he represents the inner spiritual, a silent inner voice speaking to the soul of each individual worldwide. * The Athenians may have thought they killed Socrates, but they could never able to kill his voices and spiritual dialogues hidden within each person's individual soul.

    Although a Democracy unjustly killed Socrates, they did it in a time of great crisis, and the list of men who also met this fate under the Democracy is Very small. KINGS kill at their whim.

    • @SagesseNoir
      @SagesseNoir 8 лет назад +7

      +Robert Galletta Democracy both made Socrates possible, and killed him. Without the democracy and the democratic culture of Athens, a Socrates could not have lived until he was 70. In fact, he could not have arisen. But confronted with a crisis, Athens suffered a loss of nerve. They lost their democratic tolerance out of sheer fear.

    • @plenarchist
      @plenarchist 4 года назад

      Socrates deserved what he got. He needlessly martyred himself. His accusers almost certainly demanded his death for his role in the year long reign of terror by the 30 Tyrants. Even though the jury would have almost certainly granted it, Socrates took exile off the table. Why? Because by his own admission, no other Greek state would tolerate him. The Athenians and democracy tolerated him for 40 years until the after the 30 Tyrants which led to thousands of Athenian democrats executed and property confiscated. Socrates was an incessant critic of democracy. Why? Because democracy gave the People too much freedom.
      Socrates was a hypocritical elitist and moral charlatan. His miscreant ways ultimately caught up with him. It wasn't the Athenians nor democracy that caused his destruction... he did. I have no sympathy for him and with his Apology, Plato demonized democracy causing maybe the greatest harm in human history.

      The spartans won in the end over the degenerate Athenians who lost their roots
      and traditions also their obligations. Socrates was punished as he led the youth astray without reminded them of what could happen
      if they did not ground themselves to living only on mortal pleasures and drying up their souls
      to be torn asunder. The ruling was correct. Socrates had redeeming traits however he
      should have kept it with counsel of elders
      and his interactions with the young should have practised more wisdom than being so careless without forethought of the ramifications. A great man- yet flaws.

    ......
    Would the wisdom of Socrates be less valuable had he fled judgment to live out his life and die a natural death?
    Could such values be weighed on any scale, and by what measures should we use to tip that scale in our favor?
    As for myself, I can not help but wonder what other gifts of wisdom he could have offered the world.
    Perhaps the true value of wisdom is in its acceptance or rejection.

    • @MekareP
      @MekareP 7 месяцев назад

      I think it's underappreciated that he martyred himself for his principles. Is it right and good to let evil men win? He thought the will of the outcome was good. And therefore he must submit. I am finding it interesting that he didn't see how sacrificing himself to these men's convictions proved their evil (as he would say) actions to be right. He mostly didnt care what the majority thought. But then why not care what his supporters thought at least? That he had more good work to do. More education he can teach even his own children. Comfort he can provide to his wife. I think it was an unreasonable choice to just go along with the outcome.

    [Two kinds of age]
    There are two kinds at your age; physical age and mental age. Your physical age is related to how much physical time you have passed since you were born or how much your physical body is mature. However, your mental age is beyond your physical age and general experience and common sense or general knowledge or specific expertise you know, It has to do with how you have developed your spirit and mind.
    (The age of mankind is the same. I see the present age of mankind as about 17 years old, which has grown enough both physically and materially, and now requires mental development. I have a table to measure the mental age or SQ (Spirit Quotient) of each individual.)
    How do you think your mental age or SQ is?

      Chanakya (375-283 BCE) was an ancient Indian polymath who was active as a teacher, author, strategist, philosopher, economist, jurist, and royal advisor.
      He is traditionally identified as Kauṭilya or Vishnugupta, who authored the ancient Indian political treatise, the Arthashastra, a text dated to roughly between the fourth century BCE and the third century CE.
      As such, he is considered the pioneer of the field of political science and economics in India, and his work is thought of as an important precursor to classical economics.
      His works were lost near the end of the Gupta Empire in the sixth century CE and not rediscovered until the early 20th century.
      Around 321 BCE, Chanakya assisted the first Mauryan emperor Chandragupta in his rise to power - and is widely credited for having played an important role in the establishment of the Maurya Empire.
      Chanakya served as the chief advisor to both emperors Chandragupta and his son Bindusara.

    I believe this: the world of eternal source is the world of truth corresponding to the divine or God world and the physical world is the secondary and temporary world that is always changing and sometimes does not exist. The human body comes from the physical world and goes back and the spirit feels the physical world and interacts with the God world (usually called consciousness). Accordingly, the master of the human is the spirit as God is the owner of the physical world. And thus the life is the process of getting close to God who does not die forever while realizing the truth and growing the spirit. OnCharm Lee (Author of the book "Humans & Truth")

      find yourself a copy of Plato's "the last days of Socrates" (eg. Penguin Classics) and read the whole book yourself....well worth it. You can go at your own pace and pay attention to the first story in the book, where Socrates talks to a man who is suiing his father in court...discussing the issue of what is justice and what is not (justice)...and the last story about why Socrates did not take up the offer to "bribe the guard and be on his way in exile"... this short film seems to be a very quick version made for T.V that skips a lot of what Plato has to teach about this whole affair.

      @@skuleholz bro i want to read novel about plato and socrates but books like the trial of Socrates etc r not even like reading novel..can't understand anything

    • @skuleholz

      @@kc5881 It may take a bit of getting used to...Plato's works are more like plays than novels, and the worrding can be very archaic. My suggestion would be to take your time, and ususally consider the whole plot-line is a simple....someone thinks they know something about the topic being discussed, yet Socrates will find a counterexample to what there definition is, so the first character has to re-think the issue and come up with a new way of defining or considering the issue....return to Socrates cvoming up with a counter-example. Other than the Symposium, this plot-line generally works. I was fortunate enough to study Plato's works at Uni with a very good teacher (lecturer, whatever) so I suppose I don't really know how hard it is on your own...I do remember asking a lot "what the hell are they talking about" type questions whilst reading the scripts... My advice is simply..don't give up, when you get the knack of them they are great works that still have relevance today...as the topics are still being discussed as we go through our lives...eg what does it mean to be honourable?.... is telling a lie always wrong?...etc. (I hope this helps you)

    Takes me back to my first year. What were the charges against him? How did Socrates compare himself to a gadfly? His real defence was “what does it mean for something to be pious? Is it because of its piousness that the gods love it? Or is it coz the gods love it and therefore that makes it pious?” This argument was skipped in this short film.

    [What is your mental index (SQ, Spiritual Quotient)?]
    I have developed a measurement table that measures individual’s mental level according to the degree to which he has realized real-truth. There are 150 steps in the table, ranging from -500 to +1000 depending on how much you have developed your spirit based on your intelligence. Those who are trapped in the physical world and live mainly in the flesh belong to the scope of -500 ~ +500, and those who do the real-truth and live mentally belong to +500 ~ +1000. Another separate table gives the examples of the well-known persons’ SQs in human history. Are not you curious about how much your SQ is?

    The play at 11:00 designed to discredit Socrates comes across to me the same way as it does that scene from Idiocracy. This play's scene is dripping with projection. Modern society does the same to modern atheists. We are still mocked for asking questions, and blamed for the destruction of societies.

      michael true, but Socrates was not atheist. He understood the nature of order and chaos is something that is supernatural.

    What relevance Socrates ideas have for us today? Quoted. Let's look around ! What is going on as we speak? It is a sorry state of public affairs what we are hearing in the news every day ! Some thought Socrates was in a poor state of mind. Perhaps we should pay attention to those we seem to think are mad ! No under those said to be mad say quote I am not crazy! Why do they say that?

    He should have left. Why? He has already stated that he is wise and doesn’t not everything. So how was he suppose to know the corrupt would attempt to charge him, the jurors would vote to destroy him? Ok he lived 70 years and knew many things but an argument could be had that the virtuous man knows himself and is willing to protect himself and his virtue.

    It is a time when a big-saint will emerge to make the human race awaken. It is now time for a great-saint to emerge that will awaken humans who are trapped in material civilization and live a dark and chaotic life, and that make all humans live in peace with an exalted spirit.
    In the future, human beings will enjoy the physical life based on the scientific material civilization developed by humankind until now, but by realizing true truth, they will know exactly what human beings are in this universe and live a rich spiritual life.
    The great-saint will unify all true-truths into one unity and complete house and vehicle by covering with a roof and making a body above the four pillars and the four wheels that the four saints created, and will lead mankind so that they can live a peaceful life without war and suffering at all.

    I doubt anyone will reply but if anyone has insight please let me know. Who came up with the script for Anytus, Meletus and Lycon? From secondary research I've done on google, it is said that "No record of the prosecution's argument against Socrates survives."
    So I wonder, how accurate is this so called "re-enactment" and is it possible we will ever really know what was said in these trials? Any insightful reply would be greatly appreciated.

    Those steeped in the practical, technical, aka "servile" arts serve to support & sustain (while reflexively defending) the ambitions of the elite, who themselves are steeped in the ancient arts of sacred knowledge. As unwitting defenders of the elite, (an elite who's own sacred knowledge is both unknown and considered nonsensical by the typical skilled worker) the servile class will demonize,diagnose, detain, and even put to death anyone like Socrates who's ambition is not aligned with servility to the elite. The dots of Western Philosophical history connect from men like Socrates to Bruno, Kepler & Galileo to Cantor & Godel, and even MLK Jr. and many others who were all killed, harassed, diagnosed or imprisoned by the servile class serving as protectors of the elitist class.

    [Three biggest obstacles to doing the bigger truth and sharing it each other]
    The present humanity of the earth is fully immersed in scientific materialism, nationalism, and religious sectarianism. These are the biggest obstacles for mankind to do righteous whole truths and to live the peaceful life on earth.
    Human beings are now fully absorbed in the bodily convenience, materialistic abundance, and physical power that science provides, immersed in a system of competing physical life by bounding with the racism and nationalism to the solid shell of the unit of artificial race and nation, and trapped in the religions and ideologies with misguided gods and falsely developed beliefs.
    These are the biggest hurdles for doing bigger and righteous truths. If mankind does not break down and solve these barriers, humanity on earth will never be able to find real truths, nor live a peaceful and stable life forever.
    I have mastered the whole real truths, but I feel difficulties with these obstacles in getting people to know these truths, while being in every day’s agony of how I can break them down.
    Those who sympathize it and help me will realize the whole real truths, and will be able to live a calm and peaceful life forever while making people as the same.
