Thank you. both the layout and filming were very well done. I visited my gr great grandmother in Sharples mid 1960s when I was 6 or 7 and she lived very close to the tracks - I felt like I was traveling thru time watching your video.
I'm not sure when Iv'e seen such amazing detail in any model railroad. This is fabulous. I loved the original pictures in the beginning, too. There's something about places like that which gets to me. I know WV has been hurt badly by the loss of the coal industry. I feel for them. I liked the Smoke Chesterfield billboard, too, as if those guys don't inhale enough toxins working in the mines! :-) Thanks for posting.
haha this actually FOOLED ME! I thought I was watching a real film of a train. my first thought was, why in the hell are the houses that close to the track? wow.. I didn't notice the pictures on the wall haha I was looking just at the engine.. when it stopped and pulled back, THEN I realized it was a model train display. haha pretty good. GREAT DETAIL!
Growing up in Baltimore in the '50s and '60s, I remember the B&O coal trains which always had an empty B&O boxcar before the caboose as this model RR accurately shows. I understand the boxcar was to help block blowing coal dust from the caboose so as to help keep the dust out of the eyes and noses of crew members as they watched over the moving train from the rear.
Some dude in Model Railroader years ago had an O scale layout that I think was B&O based, but it was a coal hauler and I'll never forget, it was HUGE and it had the most epic mountain scenery.... Lehigh Valley maybe? I seem to remember the engines were silver....
This is the most realistic setup I’ve ever seen lol, realistic engine sounds, realistic car sounds, and realistic weathering on everything, even realistic speeds to scale. Amazing layout .
Very nice; detail is amazing. Do you know the location of the shanty at 0:18? Sure looks like WN Tower in Cowen, WV? I worked there almost 50 years ago; so a little hard to remember!
+morristownfdfan4 Hey there! The railroad is straight DC as I don't really have need for DCC and the sound that comes with current locos doesn't sound anything like the real thing to my ears. The track the first train came up on is a 80ft passing siding I power with a separate PP. THere is a large coal tipple off the siding as well so independent power for the area is important. I have a simple block system set up for the remainder of the layout.
+bigfourroad Hi- I just pached it in with windows movie maker. I wish sound like this was available for the engines but nothing comes close to the real thing. :)
This is someone's obsession with all the fine detail and realism. I could stare at this for hours!

This the absolute best layout I have ever seen. I can almost smell the coal dust and diesel fumes of my youth. I'm surprised I missed it earlier.
What a great video. Thank you for sharing.
Nothing like 2 rail O scale, scenery right up there with Howard Zane Erie RR and the F&SM RR George Selios. Beautiful work.
Great video! That is exactly what I want my layout to look like.
oh my god,so beautiful and peaceful.everytime i go there i want to stay so bad.just georgus.
Very, very cool. Thank you for posting.--Tom

You put it well....it’s either in your soul or not.....most don’t get it 🙂
I like the lead in music. This reminds of WV. I have made many trips to WV and this scene could be anywhere in WV.
Fantastic, beautifully done....
...excellent...scenery...weathering...everthing very well done...
The weathering was amazing right down to rust inside the coal hoppers.

This is just awesome.
Very very nice job, Should have more rainy days. Nice sound overlay. Be nice if scale sound was that good.
+Phil UP6903 exactly right phil! I just run DC with no sound.....
WV I love you
Mountain Mama
Superb!!!
And the opening scene of this incredible layout shows pictures hanging on a wall in the background...LOL
Exactly Cam.....I made this vid many years ago and a lot has changed in this scene...especially the backdrop. Need to make a new one!
You nailed WV look very well......
Very nice!!! Realistic!

great o scale
Wicked! Thumbs-up....👍
Moonshine country for sure!
What do people say when they come into your home and see this elaborate set up...?
I can’t believe you filled the basement with a train layout....my wife has usually gotten to them first 😅
The only improvement I'd like to see is some steam!
Is that anywhere near bannertown
Amazing video and layout! How did you get 2 locomotives to run together on the same track?
+morristownfdfan4 other possibly a dummy unit?
+dg8882 No, probably the DCC/DCS system by MTH, check it out.

Do you have any more videos of the layout?
+Steven Michael Hey Steven, yes you will find more of you click on my movies link from the website www.industrialmodels.net
The Chevy Impala at 2:00 looks in good shape. Is it for sale?
Were is this at
Tell me, how did you get that realistic diesel sound from your engines?
+bigdadday bubblejomay I used an MP3 sound track from a real train vid I found on youtube :)
I think your videos are amazing. Do you have train activated sound or do you patch this in to the videos?
+bigfourroad Hi- I just pached it in with windows movie maker. I wish sound like this was available for the engines but nothing comes close to the real thing. :)
The 2 rails are throwing me off, is this HO or O-27
+Brendan Eckhart O scale two rail... 1:48th
+Brendan Eckhart Hey Brenden, this is O scale! :)
Don Smith Thanks.
👍
