Finally a Cleveland video
I had no idea there was a stadium at Brookside Park. I've gone there occasionally throughout the years. Remember the botched Fulton Bridge detonation in 2007? We stood out there for 3 hours and only a portion fell down. Within the next week or so they successfully blew it up!
I played and sledded there in the 60’s
Great video! I especially liked the railroad-related infrastructure you featured. ;) Not sure if you saw but the Greyhound Bus Terminal's future is in jeopardy, along with the Eagle Avenue lift bridge.
Thanks, some of my choices were inspired by your videos. I think i did hear something about the greyhound, thats too bad its like a time capsule to the 50s.
I used to work at St. Vincent; it's crazy to see the evolution of Cleveland's original downtown hospital from the 1860s to today. Unfortunately it's a shell of what it used to be, but I still feel nostalgic when I see the sign while driving on I-90 East.
Most people don't know but the president at the time of its closing was run by a 'former' Cleveland Clinic VP, who used to be the president of Fairview Hospital. She was promoted and went to Abu Dhabi. Then she came back. Then all of a sudden she was at St. Vincent. Not for very long until it closed. I have my suspicions. I believe her job was to get that place shut down.
Having adapted Cleveland as my second home. This tugged the heartstrings big time
Very cool thanks for sharing, would love to see one of these for the Lou someday. :]
The cleveland barons deserved more than a youtube short.
great video!
Thanks!
Love seeing the old pictures of Cleveland History. Thanks for sharing
Hey great job I love the before and now, I do similar work myself. loved seeing a few places I didn't know of thanks !
No Cleveland Arena?
You meant the Richfield Coliseum?
@@jetfan925 Both really.
Cleveland Arena - Before the
Coluseum
@@jetfan925
You forgot the old Cleveland Arena near 30th and Euclid. Built in the 1920s and demolished in 1977. First home of the Cavs, old NHL team the Barrons, and the original rock n roll concert put on by Allan Freed. Today it's the Cleveland area headquarters of the Red Cross.
*Barons. I remember Fred Glover. No goalie masks to speak of.
Many events were held at Cleveland Arena. Local stock car buffs may remember favorite drivers in midget cars off season.
Fun times in Cleveland again!!! Still Cleveland!!!
When I was a kid we lived right across the street from league park. I can remember playing on what was left of the field. good to see they restored it.
I was born and raised in Cleveland, PROUD OF IT TOO! I think some of the pictures looked better than, like public square
gregorymanson1015: The pictures looked better than what?
That picture from 1969 sure was nice
The Coliseum & the east/west bank of the flats. Excellent video of home! Thanks
I miss the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium but nobody cares about history or tradition anymore
Which music files did you use for this video?
Nice. Im from Cleveland
I moved out of Cleveland in 1989. Have you seen the videos of the Westside Market. That really brings back memories. My dad would take us every weekend
Mr Forgotten Places, are you from Cleveland ?
Yea
@@forgottenplaces9780 Cool. I have not made it there yet but have been to Buffalo and Detroit. I am not even from the USA but a triple citizen of Canada, Bermuda and Guyana. Smug Angelenos, New Yorkers and Miamians think their cities are so great but Buffalonians and Detroiters are proud people and should be. I can only imagine Clevelanders are too. The rust belt will bounce back. I am 54 so can remember the Bernie Kosar and Andre Thornton eras.....Keep up the good work at your site....
@@forgottenplaces9780 i love Ohio, Cleveland may be past its prime, but the rest of the state has other younger cities growing while still maintaining midwest mannors and charm.
man, I guess I don't go downtown enough. I had no idea the Rocket Mortgage Field House was now encased in glass
Grew Up On Lawnview Ave Between 71st & Addison... League Park Had A Swimmin Pool And The Carnival Used To Get Set Up In The Exact Location The Fatima Center IS💯
Do one of Detroit.
I don't believe they ever reopened that Clark Ave Bridge . Cleveland is my home town moved out 45 yrs ago and never looked back .1970 West Technical High Grad.Lots of good memories of the City.
Random, but this edible just kicked in
That bridge at 0:57 is not the same one in the new pic. I worked on that bridge for yrs. It is the republic steel company bridge now called Cleveland cliffs steel company. You can see the Clark Avenue bridge behind it, which was turn down in 1978. From that tower I raised that bridge and also controlled electric switching for the railroad tracks.
Hey at least we’re not Detroit
We're not Detroit
@@White_sox_fan Fun times in Cleveland yeah CLEVELAND
Beat me to it!
I’m from the philly area and I would honestly rather visit Cleveland over Detroit any day
@@frenchfrey65 Don’t slow down in East Cleveland or you’ll die
Wonder what happened to the clock tower?
The mistake by the lake
Dope
From philly. Still salty Cleveland got picked ahead of us for rock n roll hall of fame.
As i read it, it came down to Cleveland and Memphis.
@@forgottenplaces9780 yup. I can live with Memphis with Elvis as a major front runner atop their music history but not to cleveland.unforgivable.😁😁
Philadelphia would have never got it
@@bryantmoore2696 WTFAYTA? There's a good reason why Cleveland is the home of the R&RHoF my friend. For one, Alan Freed was the local Cleveland radio DJ who popularized & coined the term we call "Rock n' Roll" music genre. Cleveland is also considered the city to first have a Rock n' Roll concert at the Cleveland Arena when Freed promoted "The Moondog Coronation Ball." Plus, Cleveland was a breakout city in those days in the music industry & set trends in the music market. Cleveland is AKA "The Rock n' Roll Capital of the World" take it from Ian Hunter, "Cleveland Rocks!" So, GTFOH with that babbling BS & "Get Your Mind Right." Cuz you're trippin' on some crazy shlt & talking out the side of your neck. So, stop it pal & go kick rocks! Cleveland may not have Capital or Atlantic Records on a city corner block like L.A., NYC, Nashville or the ATL have. But no matter how you wanna spin it, like it or not you can't take the stripes off a zebra. A lot of music history has been created in Cleveland whether it's musicians from The-Land or iconic music moments in past & present days. If you don't know, now you know. So, "Play That Funky Music" white boy & search your mind & soul for a vibe & energy in Cleveland music. Just to name a few of many if you ain't hip, The O'Jays, LeVert, Dazz Band, Bone Thugs N' Harmony, The James Gang, Trent Reznor/NIN, Steven Adler/GN'R, Marilyn Manson, Scott Weiland/STP, Devo, Dead Boys, Kid Cudi, Tracy Chapman, Raspberries, Filter, Bobby Womack, MGK, Chrissie Hynde, Eric Singer/KISS, Benjamin Orr/The Cars, The Black Keys, Art Tatum, The Isley Brothers, John Legend, Paul Sidoti/Taylor Swift, Frank Romano/Rob Thomas, Tom Bukovac/NAME IT, BUK'S PLAYED WITH THE BEST OF THE BEST. I haven't even scratched the surface & could go on all-day. Cleveland music fans & the city of Cleveland itself have helped put many music artists on the map & break out in the music scene. Such as, RUSH, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Roxy Music, Meatloaf, & so on... Do your research to get a little knowledge in Cleveland music, cuz "Knowledge Is Power!" Blah,ha,ha!!! 😂😜🤣🤔 +Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend+ 🤘😎🤘
Guess you don't know history, birthplace of Rock n roll like it or not. Unforgiving for the self-proclaimed unaware scholar but most understand why Cleveland deserves the Rock Hall
Outta put addresses on pics!
I guess some things never changed here.
The more you know
DUDE THAT'S EVERYWERE!! ESPECIALLY IN DETROIT!!! STOP HATING!!!!! HATERS GONNA HATE!!!
👀👂🏼
Old world buildings look great the new ones look like shit.
It's immeasurably unfortunate that Cleveland is a city of losers. Games 4 and 5 of the 2024 ALCS reconfirmed this 5,000-fold fact.
@@ericschminke8233 won the nba championship…
Cleveland I'd a gigantic dump at least we are not in Detroit one comment says you are my father lives on 65th and clark nothing but 50 year old abandon buildings at least 30 of them. Looks exactly like Detroit brother!!! I was there in June of this year at least 100 plus people burning out and shooting fully automatic rifles for 2 plus hours no police. So don't tell me it's a great place don't tell me hey eete not Detroit you must live way out in the suburbs.
