I love the grips that come with the 600. The ergonomics of them are great for my hands. So much so that I'm thinking of converting my drop bar gravel bike to a flat bar with the same grips. I have all the parts, I just have to commit to it and start the wrenching.
They are nice and I felt the same way. But when I converted my Priority 600 to a touring bike, the single hand position even with those grips caused hand issues during a 5 or 6 hour day after day ride. Some folks with Jones bars continue to use them.
I tired this bar for a season, and sold it. it is worth trying all of the options out there, however, they may work best on the geometry of a jones frame... I never found the sweet spot.
I have the Jones H-Bar® SG 2.5 Loop, 660. I am a little confused on the 10-15 degree recommended though and what angle you are measuring and how to do it. I looked at several pictures on RUclips and measured on my Medium size 600 bike from floor to top of the outer bar middle and it came to 41 inches.
I just went out into my dark spooky garage and checked my setup. For the angle of the bar I used the iPhone App entitled “Measure.” Choose “level” and it gives you the angle of an object. I set the bottom of the phone at the end of the bar and I actually have mine at 9+ degrees. The end of my bar on the medium Priority 600 is also 41 inches off the floor but I have the wider bars. Hope this helps.
Here is the link showing the way to use the app… in a non-verbal sort of a way. If you have something other than an iPhone, there is likely a similar app. I use this for setting my seat and rear rack level as well. ruclips.net/video/vWkI_lCowIg/видео.htmlsi=wk1r3a4-CjrI_H7Y
Do you feel like the bottom of the ortleib bag obscures the light that you have attached to your crown. I can see it doesn’t obscure the shining down at the road, but what about the height?
Great question. I don’t have the headlight sitting upright but have it rotated to the left. As that is a hub generated light I would never use it for riding at night anyhow as the slower I go, the dimmer it gets. I count on the front and rear hub generated lights during the day to catch the attention of drivers. I have a “Cygolight” sitting up on the Jones Bar (800 Lumens I think) and a “Cydolite Hot Shot” on the rear that I would use if night riding - front and rear very well lit. In addition I have another red blinky light on the rear of my helmet that I use day and night when on sketchy roads shared with cars. “Well lit” is my motto… except when referring to bars and pubs.
thanks for the video. Extremely helpful in deciding on the 2.5 handlebar to fit my ortlieb. ill buy the extender. ONE QUESTION. how is the bounce of the ortlieb bag? do you tie it in anyway so it doesnt jiggle?
Thanks for watching. I don’t tie it down but might consider that if I were riding rough off road. I will post a short vidéo to my channel in the next couple of day showing the lack of jiggle on a rough ride. If you already ride with the Ortlieb handlebar bar, it is exactly as stable with the extension as without.
I noticed that your light is not installed on the handle bar. Did you move the light yourself or ask that priority install the light on the tire fender. cheers
Thanks for watching! That’s the position the Dynamo light came on when I received the bike. I’ve noticed that has been changed in the later shipments. I view the Dynamo lights as a daytime running light only as at slow speeds (up hill for example) the stock lights dim down. I use the Cygolight (850 lumens) on my handlebar and the Cygolight “Hot Shot” attached to my rear rack. More lights are better in my mind.
The short answer is no I did not and the install video shows pretty clearly the amount of slack that I have. Here is the video - ruclips.net/video/4fvQqF7E9Eo/видео.html and, if you fast forward to minute 6:24 you will see my first test ride and the pre zip tied slack. This shows the slack well as there is nothing yet attached to the Jones bar.
Thanks I have put my Jones bars on my 600 now. You are right there is just enough cable to work Today is my birthday, I am 62 years old. My gift to myself was the Priority 600 and the Jones bars. Put about 25 miles on new bike so far and I love it. From: Another Old Man On A Bike.
I have the wide 710mm bar and have been thinking about cutting it down to the 660mm. There are times when I think it is just too wide. What do you think?
@@cc103acs I have a larger torso and long arms. So for me I like them long. Seems like I have better control with the widest grip. So I do not think I will be cutting mine.
Wow, that bar and bag combo works really well. I have that bar, great idea.
I will pick this bar up, can you go into detail on tape the join together.

Can you teach how to use handle bar tape, please sir ? I don’t know how to make it. Thanks sir.

Hi, at what angle do you use the handlebars?
I want to do the same, that's why I'm asking what your experience is.
Hello, what was the brand of bar tape that you used ? Thank you.
Thanks for watching the video. The bar tape I used was BV EVA Bicycle Handlebar Tape - 2 Rolls. This is available on Amazon in the US… about $12.00.
@@cc103acs That's great. Thank you.
Did you have to extend your shift and brake cables to fit the Jones bars?

What Ortlieb bag are you using, look like a very good size for day rides? Nice channel too
I have mounted an Ortlieb Ultimate Six and I’m very happy with it.

What’s your Garmin bike computer model please
Garmin Edge Explore
I don't use handle bar tape, i use tennis racket replacement grip.Works alot better !!
That’s Brilliant! Where do you get that?
@@cc103acs You can get it at Walmart. Its made to work even better if its wet
@@siscokyd Wet when wrapping or wet when riding?
@@cc103acs Wet when riding. It goes on dry. I have played tennis with wet racket tape and would disagree that this is a good idea though.
👍
Use a pvc tube cutter...
If I cut it I was planning on using a simple plumber’s pipe cutter. I assume that is the same? I have a couple of those kicking around.
