This is all spot on, RUclips 100% took a major dent in the retro gaming armor. It’s a damn shame, I miss when retro gaming was an underground thing.

You make some good/great points. However, everyone’s local market is not the same. If ppl are saying their market is dry. Then it’s possibly true. The bs is “price dropping” your finds, lol’n at ppl that aren’t able or have found the fortune of similar finds.

I agree with you - retro game hunting isn’t “dead,” but you can’t deny that it’s much more difficult to find retro games at a reasonable price these days. Five years ago, some kid’s grandma would sell his entire GameCube collection for $30.
Since RetroRick came along every Goodwill in my area raised all games to $6. RUclipsrs have a big impact.

It depends on where you live, where I am if you go to a garage sale they’ll literally take their phone out and look it up on eBay and give you a $10 discount at best. Our thrift stores auction off anything with the word named “Nintendo” or “PlayStation” that aren’t sports, call of duty, or assassins creed or whatever, rather than put it on shelves, and there are no longer local thrift stores as they were all chased away. But I have lived in the southern side and found $2 melee copies, $1 monkey ball, $45 nes bundles with like 20 games, etc LOL. So it really just matters in where you live, where I am currently the hobby is 100% dead aside from the once a year Facebook marketplace deal you see that’s too good to pass up! (I got like $500 of Dreamcast stuff I’m 2019 for $60 yay) Yes, it is mostly metalebegrocks and the others who fucked it with heritage and wata when it comes to local game stores + online markets like eBay and Amazon yes. But saying the hobby is 100% dead isn’t right, location wise where people like pixel live the hobby is very alive.
The way I see it...Let them quit. That's just more games and deals left out there for the rest of us.
I'm thinking these you tubers like rgt 85 are saying their quitting so they can try and eliminate the competition, so they can get the deals themselves, but I don't think people are that dumb to quit a hobby they like just cause someone else says so. I collect to play video games and rarely sell anything I find cause I have the tendency to one day play them. hopefully I never have to sell my stuff, but if worse comes to worse, I'll sell what I have and then just stick to emulation for the rest of my life for retro gaming.
Facts....all the RUclips gamers should blame themselves. They all buy, trade, and sell and show it off on their videos. They can't be mad at these nongamers that thinks Super Mario Duck Hunt is worth $100 cause they're watching RUclips just like everyone else

I think you should do an updated video of your retro game collection because your video quality is better and you have new aditions :P
I have been into retro collecting for 15 years. I never had a big collection as I bought the systems and games I was only interested in and didnt care if they went up or not. I only collect CIB. That said, everything in this economy has inflated. houses, cars, and yes video games. I have to pay more for video games I like but its still possible to get it. These fake ass gamers are the ones that dont even play through an entire game and sit on 100s of games they never even played and just buy because they are rare. meh. I got back into retro gaming this past 6 months. I am happy with what I have and I am glad I am playing my fav old school games and discovering new ones. I stopped playing video games during uni and when my NES and PS3 broke.

You can still find good finds at flea markets and thrift stores I found giga wing 2 on Dreamcast at goodwill for $3.99 it takes more work but it’s worth it in the end 😎
This is exactly the reason I never started making videos about Pokémon, I'm tired of the prices going up, and I knew if I started making Pokémon videos, all it would do is create more hype and raise them even more.
The game chaser alway bad mouthing reseller in their show, and den they themselves flip their $5 find from flea market at reseller price to fund for their stupid movie...lmao...a pair of hypocrite
