Ralphs running commentary during your video is what makes your program so much more interesting than other cooking videos that I follow. You two make a great team and you're lucky to have each other.
I think we must have been separated at birth or something. I LOVE waffles and make them frequently in one of my vintage irons (yes, I have several). We need to discuss/compare our interest in vintage appliances sometime! Anyway, I'll try your recipe this weekend! My grandmother always used Jackie Kennedy's waffle recipe which is similar to yours..although I doubt she ever made a waffle in her life! I have a great recipe I use that doesn't require egg whites and delivers great results.
Thanks for watching! These are just your basic waffles, but very good! You can jazz them up with fruit, sweet or savory things if you like. I think the old waffle irons get very hot, which bakes a nice crisp waffle!
May flowers bring Pilgrims? So long as he's cute, why not! We're having summer like weather here in California, but waffles are good anytime of the year. I'm inspired to make waffls for breakfast Sunday morning!
LOL - Adam, maybe we were! I didn't know Jackie Kennedy had a waffle recipe! Can't you just see her fussing over the waffle iron ;-) I'm interested in your recipe that doesn't call for egg whites - do they come out light and crispy? Thanks for watching!
@@cavalcadeoffood I purchased an expensive egg beater. It looked top of the line. I remember them as a child. Boy mixing up my cake batter with that egg beater was a chore. Much harder than I had thought it would be. My mom said when she was a child they mixed up whipped cream and egg whites with a bowl and a fork, everyone took a turn, they passed the bowl around between each person till they got the desired results. This was in the 1930's and early 1940's when they did not have electricity. I bet they would have loved an egg beater. Well egg beaters are nice to have and look at, but not so wonderful to use. Unless you want a work out. But if the electricity goes out ! You good to go. Provided you have an oven or stove you can heat by non conventional means. My sister was a chef for decades, she said her friend made waffles like this and she said they were the fluffiest best waffles ever. I've done it, and they come out nice and soft and fluffy.
@@kfl611 Thanks! I use my hand-powered egg beaters sometimes for preparing eggs for omelets. I've tried whipping cream with them - like you said it's a bit of a task. As long as the power is on, I'll use my electric mixer. Thanks!
"Kevin is going to open an antique, vintage appliance museum some day, right?"
"Yeah. Why not."
And then you did. I love it.
Hi Duane - sometimes the craziest ideas become reality! :-) Thanks so much!
A little spot of appliance heaven !

Thanks, kfl! Didn't think of using my egg beater for this job!
