This is a shape I plan on working on. Just curious, when you draw up the cylinder what exactly are you looking for in order to know that you've pulled up enough clay? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills.
Merci encore😊
I’m study ceramics at my university right now, and from my understanding a classical moon jar has a smaller base than the opening. At least I have heard it’s important to Korean potters. Is that true, and why is that?
Rewatching in feb 2023. One of my favourite pieces to make and I love watching you make anything. Thanks for the post

Beautiful! I am curious as to the finished dimensions. Thank you
Do you glaze the complete inside of moon jars and other pots that are mostly closed? Love your work and my set of Hsin trimming tools!
I did glaze inside as long as I can pour the glaze in.
That’s no moon, that’s a space station.
Incredible, just shows you that you can make a sizeable vase from 5lb

I think Wikipedia has very good definition and the history of the moon jar. Here I am just to show people how to achieve the shape.
