I visited the Maasai this summer in Northern Tanzania and was lucky enough to be able to spend a night at their boma. Their culture is so rich and beautiful, watching this brought back many memories. I have to admit I shed a few tears watching this and remembering the overwhelmingly amazing cultural experience. These people are so strong and awe-inspiring. I hope someday in my future I can go back and visit them again.

In Europe, we say that the Dutch men are the tallest, along with some of my fellow Scandinavians, yet almost all Masai, many East Africans & Africans in general, are the tallest humans in the world. Maasai are tall, but east Africans are generally smaller than West Africans, the maasai are hamitic and nilotic. The south Sudanese on the other hand are purely nilotic and are the tallest Africans.
I weep at the sight of this video. This proud and noble peoples, once the great hunters and warriors of the Savannah, who, at the very sight of them, instilled terror in the hearts of other tribes, now reduced to dancing for a few pennies from rich German and American tourists.
My community my age set my loving kind friends that we spend with now and then. i use to enjoy with them on such an occasion at Soit Nado kerdowney camp Amboseli.

luckily the tribe spontaneously broke into traditional dancing singing and chanting - simultaneously with the tourists deciding to get out of their bus - inconceivable.
There is a trick to the dance. It's so hard to emulate because we westerners think of the dance as being based on body movement and position but when I was there I was very frustrated because I'm a dancer and I wouldn't stop trying so finally they told me the trick. I'll give you a hint though, it helps a lot if you wear one of their necklaces. Watch the men's necklaces. For the women's dances, you'e on your own.
