The reason for the age differences in MMA and field sports is based on a couple of factors. MMA needs power whereas football/soccer requires speed moreso. Speed declines at an earlier rate to power. Speed is at it's peak in your mid to late 20s whereas power is at it's peak in your early 30s. Field sports also have far more demanding schedules. An MMA fighter might have a fight every 6 months whereas a soccer player has a game every 3 days at the level being discussed. Lower recovery times, higher strain, more pressure to come back quickly from injury etc. Most retirements in field sports are due to injury or physical/mental strain rather than just deciding that you're finished. This is very simplified and is kinda just my immediate reaction to your points as a sports science student who has mainly worked in combat sports and field sports
Spot on tbh. Field sports injuries are more common due to repetitive strain if they aren’t playing matches they are training almost everyday. The body can only keep up that level for so long no matter how healthy and fit the player feels
Podbuilder showdown would actually be the perfect name for a podcast. You could legit just talk to others about your experiences and list your guests all time favourite FIFA cards.

I worked at Fenway Park in Boston for 4 years and met basically every Major League Baseball Player in the American League East and the National League East due to Covid and the Covid rules in 2020. In the moment we're not supposed to lose our cool but after you have that thought like "holy crap, I just met so and so" which is really cool. For example, I met Pete Alonso, who won rookie of the year in 2019. He had never been to Fenway before and was asking me about some of the old photos that were around where my spot was. One of the coolest people ever and I'm not even a Mets fan.
