This single term can be explained in many ways. i.e. Falsification of information, Concealment of truth, Misrepresentation of facts, Misapplication of skills, Money laundering, Evasion of taxes, and Encroachment of lands. All of these are fulfilled with various methods of accomplishment, which are; bribes, graft, extortion, kickback, cronyism, and embezzlement. Context of corruption, National accountability bureau (NAB) ordinance 1999 provides a schedule of offences punishable which include: willful default in payment, the person who aids or abets corruption, criminal conspiracy, furnishing false information, refusal to answer questions, fabricating false evidence, embezzlement, misuse of authority, fraud, acquisition of asset gained from corrupt practices. This CSS topic discusses the causes of corruption in Pakistan which are Feudalistic politics in Pakistan, Feudalism has politicized all state departments, Lack of, Transparency in the public sector, The corrupt are not held accountable, Weak and corrupt law enforcing institutions, Culture supports the corrupt rather than whistleblowers. The effects of corruption like Energy, Economic and Water Crisis in Pakistan, Promotes crimes and disturbs the social fabric, Brings poverty and inflation for the citizens, Dependence on international monetary fund and other countries, and Tarnishes the image of a country are discussed.
