I don’t have a “manor”, but I do live on 10 acres with pasture land, 118 walnut tree orchard and 4 separate lawns with a farmhouse. I inherited this and love it and am very thankful. But, I’m here to tell you, it is a lot of work to keep up larger pieces of land. It’s all we do and where a good majority of our money goes. The wealthy person can hire caretakers, the majority do it themselves and are exhausted at the end of the day.
Valentina, love all your videos but this in particular was awesome. You nailed it with "modern manor," inspiring. I would love to see you turn this into a series and break it down on how to do this style room by room in detail in the real world on a budget without a ginormous house and property which is just one of the areas you are genius. More of this please. Thank you!
Yes, I would love this too. Breaking it down in your home, so we can see element changes we can make on a budget to bring this look in to our homes. It sounds like less stuff, more simple clean lines, larger scale items, emphasis on garden and grounds and outdoor living space, warm tones, wood, slate, tile, etc.
This was one of my favorite episodes, thusfar! I LOVE this style aesthetic. We live in a townhome, but still pattern our decor after “modern manor”. Soooo many great ideas in this episode! BRAVA👏
Big homes in big lots of land is not a trend. It's what people often aspired to, but few could afford. The style with lots of wood has been unpopular with younger people for years so most stained wood in older homes has bern painted out or removed. A pool, to be on a lake yes is aspirational, a carriage house, a guest house or cottage. These are things very very few people can afford with the cost of homes these days.
Yeah but I think she’s more highlighting the style and major inclusions. I have a 2 bed cottage on a 1/4 acre in a town, can still appreciate her ideas and it gives me ideas on how to include. Just use some imagination to incorporate it into your space if you like it x
@@L0U1SEhow can they do that when they are depressed! Goodness I got depressed reading it! Everything in life is attitude. Totally agree with you! Take the tips and incorporate them into YOUR life! She even said it at the beginning!

This resonates with me, as we live out in a private Lake County setting. This video was very grounding for me, being able to appreciate the traditional elements blended with a modern flare. Your so inspirational, Valentina..you have no idea🖤🤍🙌
I was so excited to find this video! I've been having trouble describing my style for our new home...this is EXACTLY it! I am a DIYer and my husband and I are completely self building our entire new home from scratch that I designed. We are not hiring any subs...we are literally building our "Modern Manor" on a major budget! We have 65 acres, a creek, a greenhouse we built, large pavilion we built and our DIY cottage (we built for 70K). Thanks for a fantastic video!
It’s always about budget. Whether you make $60k or $160k or 1mil per year - there is a budget. I don’t have a manor home nor want a house bigger than 3,000 square feet - but I can incorporate these ideas into my home. I’m in the middle of redoing my house so I’m loving this video. I like the Parisian look but I am loving this ❤️
I’m renovating our 130 year old ‘city manor’ in Europe. Our motto was ‘everything that’s attached to the house should credibly be from that era’, and everything else may be modern but not exclusively. You gave it a name, thanks
Finally! After all these years, I finally found a name for the style that I love! I’m definitely not wealthy, but I do want my home to feel like this. I really believe there are budget friendly ways to have this style. Thank you, Valentina! 💕
Valentina really goes above and beyond all the time! She really really gives us great ideas! She’s aware that everyone has their own style and budget! So inspiring Thank you Valentina ❤
Love this! Love the dream but it’s just not realistic for my budget or lifestyle. You did the daydream video, now please do a reality version! My almost 100 yr federal/traditional home is a bit eclectic but leans traditional. Can you do a video incorporating the modern manor in a traditional home? As my boys are all teens now, I’m getting braver bringing things into our home! 😳😁
I have been investing in antique and vintage pieces in creating the French country look but I do have quite a bit of modern art in a color scheme that picks up the colors in a gorgeous chintz floral French armchair. I love this style. It is so elegant yet also warm and casual. Please keep showing your ideas on this movement! I love it!!!
I had average, a pond, spring fed stream ,horses, a pool and 10 dogs. It was a wonderful way to raise my kids. However, unless you are rich, it's a hell of a lot of work!
I just had to watch this video twice. It definitely peaked my interest. I cant wait for you to show more on this Modern Manor Style. I am also tired of the same old trends we see over and over again on you tube. This video and style made my heart skip a beat !
This is absolutely me. The color palate you mentioned however I include warm shades of gray. My apartment, small homes and larger home always look like this. I always add simple architectural things, simple ornate furniture and old world castle like decor like candelabras, ornate chandeliers, fireplaces, antique mirror etc. I definitely must have modern floor plans and the functionality of modern upholstered furniture. But the main reason I think this style is mine is the fact that I always prefer a home that others feel is too large for my needs. But I just hate multi-use rooms. I still want separate formal living and dining rooms, conservatory, butlers pantry, library, mud room, beauty room, office, craft room, green house, separate garage and so on. But not a castle that is just large for prestige and display of wealth. No matter how modest the size of my home its always decorated like an estate. I just shop second hand and furniture dupes to create my look. Thank you for giving it a name...Modern Manor. I have been calling my style Modern Parisienne. Definitely agree with the mix of RH and Arhaus over Pottery Barn and Z Gallery although a few pieces make nice accents.
You nailed it. This is what I have been wanting. Also, I would love a video on styling lighting. Especially those RH style uplights you have been talking about.
Enjoying these videos lately-- the coastal style and the modern manor! I think my dream house would include elements of both! Can't wait to hear more about the modern manor and how to incorporate those elements into a common, suburban home!
Love it. Could we please have some 90s split level inspired home make overs? There are lots and lots of these older homes with stairs going up to the living room and stairs going down to the basement. Rails at the top of the stairs and vaulted ceilings... We need help with these old houses. Thank you:)
OMG!!! This video is exactly what I"ve been looking for! It's as if you got in my head! I'm traditional married to a modern man. You saved my marriage!!! honestly! we just purchase a house on 2+ acres so you nailed it Valentina! Thank you🥰🥰🥰
I loved the McAlpine book! I have a townhouse and love the idea of a little more formality, a little reference to my love of travel, lovely items that speak to me of craftsmanship and care. I think it can be done in a "fewer, better" way. I'm thinking about Moroccan lamps in the downstairs living room, and crystal where I want it.
In my opinion this is the best video you have shared with us!! I LOVE the style, and I also LOVE that you are teaching us! Valentina, you know so much, and you do such a great job showing us photos as examples as you teach. Thank you very much! All best wishes to you and your family. PS... I also love your travel videos. Again, so informative. Please keep teaching us! I'm having my coffee with you. Shoal!
We were on a lake for 27 years with 5600 sq. Ft shingle style home. Now we are in a 55 and over community with an open plan and 3800 sq.ft. I had the manor and loved it. Our house sat on 2 acres of land, which was a huge amount to have around that lake. 😊 I think I’m going to add more moldings t
The greenhouses and sunrooms look like half of the things on my garden pin board! I would love to have a black modern greenhouse with a dining table or office ❤️
❤ this video Tina! Have you shot anything on MCM/Desert Moderne? Would love to see your take on it. I’ve recently mixed MCM with Coastal and people love it! Keep up the great work. Love your channel
I absolutely Love this look! Thank you for this video, so helpful to have a style name for visuals. The books sound amazing! Looking forward to more content on this style. ❤️
@@HouseofValentina Have you heard of the trend for Cocktail pools? Not full sized - big enough for friends to stand and chat with cocktails. I want one 😁. Also, where did you get the pillow next to you with the white fluff balls?
I love all your videos and I have leaned a lot from all your knowledge, but this video in particular is as amazing I definitely don’t have a big piece of land but I love this style I was looking for something that I could mix traditional and modern and this nail it. I love it 🥰
What gorgeous homes! I would totally decorate in that style, if I were to inherit a manor house. The style is warm and elegant. For now, the Scandinavian minimal style keeps my tiny studio apt in L.A. looking more spacious and clean. I can appreciate a lot of different decor styles, though. Another great video, Valentina!
This is so interesting, this the exact style I’ve been pinning on Pinterest for the last two months since I’ll be looking for this style of home in the Detroit area pretty soon. I’ve just been referring to this style as “modern classic” but I think it goes well with many homes in Detroit
I’ve been following Leonora Smee in England. She and her family actually live this Modern Manor lifestyle and have for several generations. I use Leonora for inspiration but, I have learned to recreate the look on a small budget by following Valentina’s advice. Thank you Valentina !!
Wonderful i have just bought a house in portugal i am renovating and i have been leaning toward this kind of style but did not know how to describe it so thank you😊
This is my style! I’ve always labeled it as modern European but it’s definitely, as you say the mix between ancient (European) and new. Throw in some classic (East coast, New England) and that’s me! Thanks for helping me name it! Beautiful style
My home is a mix of this and traditional, using ornate and abstract art. I’m currently building a brick orangery with three large arch doors right now. ❤
The "Modern Manor" will only be the "it" thing for the wealthy. In this economy, and what's coming in the near future, the trend of downsizing or selling your home, to have some sort of nest egg, and then returning to renting will be more likely. Normal people, who make a very decent living, are struggling to make ends meet, not thinking about when they will buy their Modern Manor on a huge piece of land. Of course these homes are beautiful, and we can all dream, but living like this is not a reality for 95+% of the population.
While this is true, she often points out that you can embody this style in all types of homes, including condos. There are many traditional NYC homes that have a similar aesthetic but without the grand lot of land
I don’t get your point really. So V shouldnt have made this video bc 95% of people “can’t live like this”? Or are you just reminding everyone that our economy is tanking in case we forget and accidentally buy a modern manor.
@@katyasolodyan8013 My point is that this is not a realistic trend for most people. Sure you could add elements of this style into any home but, it still wouldn't be close to the images she is showing to represent the style. I'm not bashing V. She is lovely and so is her style. I would just like to see interior design styles that are more attainable for us average folk!
I understand what you're saying but I think Valentina was trying to show us the big picture of this style, including the grand elements. However, as with any style we can incorporate aspects as we are able. We can thrift, DIY, or find duplicates for our smaller homes, condos, or apartments. For example, I love the windows in this style, so I'm going to add molding and paint it black so it can pop. I'll slowly change out some furnishings and repurpose some accessories. This video was meant to inspire not necessarily replicate.
Five builders created our community to look and feel like a Italian Tuscan Village. Our social group calls the families on the upper hill the kings and queens. Their homes are 6000/9000 thousand square feet. They call the rest of us are the peasants. Our homes are 3000/3600 square feet. 😂 I remind these funny ladies living in this community is a blessing. Observing these entitled families at club activities and the pool is entertainment. Haha I don’t share that a couple of king and queens families are our friends due to business life and non profit work we do. King/Queens and peasants - Live blessed with what we have and give away what we can. That is what make the Smith family happy. Grateful for our beautiful community that faces the Colorado foothills called RedRocks.
I just love this! I love to dream of this this beauty. Keep going with this. I love who I am and what I have but I love to dream of what is in my future. Thanks again. I always have a cup of coffee and relax with you.
I live on the cape in an apt ha but to be honest the homes that catch my eye..are the tiny historical cottages. Stone or the old cedar shingle ha with the not so high roofs and roses about 😊
We just bought 4.5 acre piece of property eeek! This is the house that will be going on it in the spring. Keep talking about this please - would love one about paint colors for this design too!
My ideal place would be a two bed two bath shotgun house with a stone fireplace/wood burner stove and the outside would be of the same river stone as the fireplace. My shed a well insulated 20x20 place for a walk-in freezer and dry food storage, air conditioned for the Texas heat. My house a 30x60 with two adjoining covered porches. This on 20 acres with two half acre fully stocked ponds for 3 cows and their calves and 4 horses. Pole barn with fan and a firebox.
(I dont expect to inherit a big piece of land from a recently deceased aunt who lived in a neglected manor and then i put on my workclothes and try fixing it myself but eventually need the help of my brooding sexy neighbor with a heart of gold lmaoo) buttttt……. I have a 1835 sq ft house built in the 90s. I have a fireplace that needs a facelift. How i found this video useful is i went to pinterest and pinned modern classic looking fireplaces for when i have the means to upgrade it. Its about taking little tiny elements from a style and incorporate them in your existing space. Use classic styles for fixed elements and use fun modern decor elements 🤷🏻♀️
I wish! Such a dream! At least we can enjoy talking about it ,and enjoy looking at these beautiful pictures together...Great video as always Valentina.I really appreciate your work and you make my day more cheerful.
You can have it if you are patient and decorate little by little. Shop antique stores and thrift - sometimes you find amazing items. Estate sales can be golden. It just takes awhile. I have a low budget and I am doing it
@@cq8822 I totally agree with you, especally if you have antique stores and fairs nearby.I live in such a small country in south of Europe and lot of things are not accessible here, nor do we have shipping for international online sellers or stores ,so it is very hard to get interesting and unique furniture and decor.Nevertheless, we have adventage of lower prices for luxury materials which could be used for making something of your own if you need something different and unique. There are ways🙂
I actually live on a non-working farm in a farmhouse and people expect to see farmhouse when they come in BUT I am not going to fully commit to that style. I have to mix in modern and I have only a few signs 😂
I love this style, although my personal bent would be a bit lighter on the modern and adding in more things like Greek key trim on the wood floors and a few statement antiques that nod to the architecture. I have noticed builders going in this direction, but you gotta watch them because they'll do things like put in barn doors and a mud room with green board and batten walls for no apparent reason. LOL
You just described my style for the past 20 years. I built an over 6000 sq ft mansion stucco with some brick villa style on top of a hill with 4 acres and lived there for 18 years until the maintenance of all the gardens and fountains just got to be too much. So we sold it and built a 3400 sq ft all limestone house on top of a hill on an extremely wooded lot of about 5 acres. So happy. Many gardens but stone walls and pillars and huge Andrés pts full of flowers and manicured shrubs. So much easier. Same style just a little easier to manage. I’m looking forward to more of your videos as usual. Appreciate the book and Pinterest link
People who live with land including those in large manors tend to be outdoorsy. Their homes are definitely luxurious but also very comfortable and always include original art and antiques which adds a layer of patina and richness and is a great juxtaposition to modern style. Your local charity and thrift shops are wonderful places to find these treasures - you do not have to spend a fortune.
I’m in a big home on a large plot . This is the first time seeing something that speaks to me. I’m hoping you’ll do this again with south west style and casitas. I’m interested in what to do with the land.
I think what the modern manor is actually is an estate with outbuildings. It reads rather British. Georgian inspired spaces with some modern touches. Not French provincal but British eatate or manor
I love this style so much. I saw this video when you first released and have searched frantically to find it again 😂. What are your thoughts on including character grade floors in this style? I’ve searched for a year to find flooring but having a hard time finding what I like but I do have warm white oak character grade floors that will do on stand by.
I got a smaller home on 5 acres. It's a lot of work and maintenance that people don't usually realize until they have to deal with it. I'm glad I don't have a larger home with more upkeep. A lot of times I think it would be nice to have an apartment lol.
I'm gonna start calling our garage the carriage house! Our shed is now the mini barn. We're rolling with it. 😊
🤣👍

Definitely my "it," Valentina!! And yes, please... a series on this style would be fantastic!
Totally agree!
This is going hand in hand with the “quiet luxury” aka “stealth wealth” trend. Look into that trend and it’s totally on point.
I just started the video and OMG! This is my dream!
As much as we all have some budget to work with ,accessibility is also very important peace of puzzle.
I actually live on a non-working farm in a farmhouse and people expect to see farmhouse when they come in BUT I am not going to fully commit to that style. I have to mix in modern and I have only a few signs 😂
Love that style
Modern Manor Style is a Vibe. My VIBE
Can you give me an email as a reply instead?
This looks like my pinterest board, also. I didnt know this is what its refered to...thanks!
I absolutely love Modern Manor!!
These homes are reminiscent of many of the winery estates in Napa CA and surrounding towns.
Yesssss, grew up out there, last 15y on nwfl gulf...
You nailed it
Commenting in the first minute because I’m so excited for this one!!!
Exactly the estate I’ve been dreaming of.
I am so ready for velvet wallpaper
Found this style at most large homes in London, and I can now see this at a New York penthouse or a large estate in New England area 😊
Thoughts on floor color? Pale oak or dark browns?
Absolutely 😍. More of this, please ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Totally out of question for most. I prefer informal. Flip flops and tshirts!
I got a smaller home on 5 acres. It's a lot of work and maintenance that people don't usually realize until they have to deal with it. I'm glad I don't have a larger home with more upkeep. A lot of times I think it would be nice to have an apartment lol.
😊I have a kitchen full of stainless steel. But that bakeware is attractive. I like the European flare.
