The reason why they dont eat in the day is because they dont have cover. Being a bass fishermen Ive noticed that they strike and are more active near cover(safezones). I too have owned bass in a 125 g tank and they were super active because of the plants and driftwood cover I had. Try to mimick their natural envuronment.

Hey joey, I’m al Canadian Forves veteran with PTSD, I served 27 years from Halifax to Edmonton and tours in Bosnia and Afghanistan. I really enjoy your vids. I have a small tank with just guppies, I watch them for hours which really helps with my state of mind. I keep it small as my talent for keeping fish is limited. I just think a guppy tank would be awesome to show some of us rookies that keeping any kind of fish has something to offer. I did get my tank before watching your videos and have lost several fish, but since discovering your channel the death toll has greatly been reduced. I think your video telling us about your life was a very courages move, I have my own demons that i deal with everyday. So my hats off to you young man proud of you what ever that means to you.

if you put a bunch of lily pads in the bass pond it will create some dark areas for them to feed bass like to have cover when eating

Love the monster mini fish tank idea! As you were showing the time lapse of the feeders swimming around, I love watching how they grouped and swam around. I think doing a monster tank that has nothing but small schooling fish would be pretty incredible to witness.

Glad you decided on giving them feeders. I believe they would have passed if you hadnt. Dont listen to the inexperienced haters. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Now that they've gotten something in their bellies I would start dropping 1 feeder at a time instead of dumping them all in at once. Once they get to the point where they're anxiously waiting on that next feeder to hit the water, drop a "feeder shaped" strip of frozen tilapia in. They will most likely spit it out at 1st but just keep with it until they eventually gobble it down. I've spent countless hours over several years raising different species of Cichla and this has always worked for me. Looks to me like you're doing everything right . And the faux brick looks great!

Honestly the comments on here are horrifying. Why shut someone down for being enthusiastic and wanting to talk about what they love, and showing appreciation for his fans? Have you ever watched an unboxing where the person receiving brushes it off and doesn’t seem excited? Joey is awesome for giving each item his full attention and for having so much enthusiasm and I certainly hope he doesn’t let the trolls get him down.

You should build a tv into the side of the pond and have a live camera streaming from the middle of the inside of the tank. It will look like you have got a viewing pannal. You could make it look really good especially now that you have foam as it will be similar thickness so it will be fairly easy to install!

Set up a system that will allow the guppies to breed in the tank. Heavy top water vegetation kinda thing and even a heap of drift wood that breaks the surface. The guppies will breed like crazy eventually if you do it right.....and your feeding what your tank produces.

  • @kiradeki3561

Guppy pond!! Please! Or a massive pond/tank filled with smaller schooling fish of different kinds. Also, maybe you should set up a remote underwater camera for monitoring the predator pond? It might help you come up with new ways to feed them if you can see how they behave when you're not there.

I fished for peacock bass on the Amazon in Peru. Most of the bass I caught were holding tight against cover like over hanging branches, bushes, logs and lily pads. They dont like bright lights from above. I think you need more structure for them hide underneath and have larger fish that swim in open water that are not shy. The other fish will give the bass confidence. Peacock bass in the Amazon use structure to protect themselves from dangers from above.

You need green light.... search for green fishing light. I use a couple 4’ underwater LEDs, and a massive bright green spotlight at my dock. It’s amazing to see how quickly the fish get attracted to the lights, and kinda fun to watch the predators do their thing.
