This must have been so difficult for Queen Charlotte to watch the man she loved slowly disappear and deteriorate. This is the first time I’ve seen such a tender depiction of their relationship.
I thought the same. Had to dig into history. They had 15 children, 13 lived to adulthood. There had to be something there. He was the King that lost America, that stress alone.
He was misdiagnosed and cured for everything but not for the illness he had: porphyria.

@Jena I read one of the procedures the doctors performed on him was bloodletting. It's not really working, not in this case, but he must have had the strength of an ox to survive it.

A true love story. A love like that echoes through the ages and gives hope to us hopeless romantics. I am married and have been since I was 22 (almost 20 years ago!) and it’s true you still see your spouse as the young person that you met all those years ago. My husband complains about his hair graying and his weight gain but I still see the 28 year old man that made my heat skip a beat when we first dated

when the bride spoke so revent to the King to calm him , was a gracious beautiful scene. She left him with his dignity. Queen Charlotte was so appreciative.

The saddest part is knowing that he will never get better, because there is no cure for dementia. But in the 18 century they don’t know that and I feel like there’s a part of Charlotte hoping that he’ll come back to who he was and get better
@@sarickacampbell2642 I don’t think he’s got dementia or at least that’s only a part of it. The real George had manic depression, left untreated (and there was no treatment for it then) it can get much worse with age
King George and Queen Charlotte were Godparents my Great Aunt x6.
