- Not as much to look at for topo maps on this one! The Chowan river is a completely new body of water for me. I did not go and prefish here so spending my time covering water in the practice will be very important. Im super excited about this event and the fact that it is new water for me. This is also the first tidal water we will fish on the BPT. Tidal water isn’t my strong suit but I love new places, especially when they are supposed to be as good as this one is!

Think you guys will be surprised. This river is full of 5-8lbers ,takes 24-27lbs to win the local 5 bass tournaments. Good luck Ott.
A guy in my club caught a 12 in the roanoke few years ago
The roanoke will play a big role. The tide will not be a factor up the rivers because of the rivers feeding the chowan, ( the Nottoway and the Black water River) are running at slightly higher than normal june heights. There will be some current though.
Our local club fished it a few weeks ago and the club best was 9 pounds. Seen a ton of 20 pound bags out of there
No tide on the albemarle except for wind tide.
Awesome video yet again!! I make fishing videos as well so it's really fun to watch your videos and I really enjoy them!! I've gotta get out and make a bass fishing video myself!! Keep up the great work!! 💪🤝
It can taste pretty salty at 6 parts per thousand. They are perfectly ok until about 12 parts per thousand
Not tidal.
The classic you’re speaking of was on the Currituck Sound back in the early 70’s, I think. I don’t think there any bass in the Currituck now as a major storm cut a new inlet on the Outer Banks and salt water intrusion killed out the fresh water life including the beneficial grass in the Currituck.
There are bass in currituck sound now. The washover or inlet closed back up a long time ago. Grass is coming back too.
As someone who fishes it often and lives on it, The Currituck is awesome fishing. Water can get salty though .
@@austincox4 yes hard south winds and obviously drought conditions right?
The Chowan river tide is wind dependent.
There's big bass everywhere. The sound has giants and isn't saltwater. The river to the right u were talking about is the North River. Full of bigs. Tides are all wind driven. North wind blows it out and south pushes it back in.
I so wish I could fish with you down here. We’d have a blast! BTW-not tidal! Only wind tide.
Living near the Mobile Bay we utilize a salinity report that will show how far the salt is infiltrating the bays. For us here in lower SW Alabama the shrimp move in in Late October due to it being the driest month and the salt moves in, often causing a feeding frenzy.
Good luck this week and stay safe out there!! Looking forward to watching this tournament!
Don’t be scared of that brackish water Ott……Remember Venice, La 😊
Good Luck Ott. Up the river will be mighty good. God Bless.
