When my aunt was 19, she went to japan to work and she said this played a lot in the bar she was working at. Every night and on every radio. She said she almost got sick of it but hearing this now makes her feel nostalgic.

her life story is so sad. miki was diagnosed with uterine cervic cancer, which she kept a secret for a long time from people and carried on with her music career. she battled cancer for 3 years. 2 months before her death, miki wished nobody would listen to her music and said she had regretted her music career as a whole, because she spent her life being too focused on making music and didn't live her life fully enough. edit: this part is inaccurate (read next paragraph). miki spent the last 2 months of her life with her family, and later passed away at the age of 44. she told her husband that she wished she could restart her life again and live it more fully. rest in peace

@@eensanom while I agree with all you said , and also that if you don't live a life you like you could have an illness, I don't agree that you could have cancer. Cancer is formed by DNA mutations of the cells in our body, which is a normal thing that happens to our cells but, if they were in contact with carcinogenic things (environment, food, etc), the DNA mutations can evolve into cancer cells . Cancer cells are not created by the stress of a life you don't like

This is Anemoia, the feeling that this music gives me. The whole vibe, the atmosphere, the time period 80’s to early 90’s. I don't know how, she captured it not just in this song but all of her songs and it gets me every time, the feeling is addicting, it's like pervasive, like talking to the deepest part of us, that obscure sorrow is powerful. How can you miss something you've never experienced or someone you've never met? to add to that a language that you don’t understand? The human experience is truly a humbling mystery.

    [Intro]
    To you
    Yes, my love to you
Yes, my love to you, you
    To you
    [Verse 1]
I am only me, you are only you
I said that last night and still feel the same way
You in your gray jacket with that familiar coffee stain
    Just as you always are
Our reflection in the display window
    [Chorus]
    Stay with me
    Knocking on midnight's door
Begging you not to go home (Ooh)
That season when I cried right in front of your eyes
    Stay with me
    Saying our favourite words
Holding on to our little moment (Ooh)
I'll never forget it as long as I live
    [Verse 2]
They say love and affection are two different things
    You told me last night
    Sometimes I think so too
Winter comes again and your heart has gone away
If I look back I see
That I could always feel you by my sidе
    Chorus]
    Stay with me
    Knocking on midnight's door
There's a holе in my heart (Ooh)
That season when I cried right in front of your eyes
    Stay with me
    Distracted by my loneliness
The needle on my record player (Ooh)
Was stuck on a repeating melody
    [Saxophone Solo]
    [Chorus]
    Stay with me
    Knocking on midnight's door
Begging you not to go home (Ooh)
That season when I cried right in front of your eyes
    Stay with me
    Saying our favourite words
Holding on to our little moment (Ooh)
I'll never forget how warm it felt
    [Chorus]
    Stay with me
    Knocking on midnight's door
Begging you not to go home (Ooh)
That season when I cried right in front of your eyes
    Stay with me
    Saying our favourite words

Miki Matsubara was one of Japan's most beloved artists in the '80s. She loved music, singing and writing songs. Before she died of cervical cancer at the age of 44 in 2004, when her doctor told her that she had 3-4 months to live, she became depressed and burned some of her songs along with her 2 albums that weren't released yet and told her relatives that she had killed her. He didn't want to be a singer. He currently has 10 officially released albums and 16 singles. Had he lived, he would have been 62 years old this year. As the Z generation, I like that we do not forget the old songs and keep the music-loving spirits alive.

Miki Matsubara was a Japanese singer, songwriter, and composer who became an iconic figure in the Japanese music scene during the late 1970s and 1980s. Born on November 28, 1959, in Kishiwada, Osaka, Japan, she grew up in a musically inclined family, which nurtured her talent from a young age.
Matsubara began her music career in high school, where she was part of a band called "Yamato Gensouki." Her big break came in 1979 with the release of her debut single, "Mayonaka no Door (Stay with Me)." This song, with its catchy melody and emotional lyrics, became an instant hit and is often considered her signature song. The song's popularity extended beyond Japan, finding a resurgence on platforms like TikTok and RUclips decades later, introducing her music to a new generation of listeners worldwide.
Throughout the 1980s, Matsubara released several successful albums and singles, including hits like "Neat na Gogo 3 ji," "Wash," and "Cupid." Her style, often categorized as city pop, blended elements of jazz, pop, and R&B, reflecting the cosmopolitan vibes of urban Japan during that era. Matsubara's voice was known for its clarity and emotional depth, making her a beloved figure in the Japanese pop scene.
In addition to her singing career, Matsubara was a talented composer and lyricist. She wrote songs for various artists and worked on music for television dramas and commercials. Her ability to craft memorable melodies and poignant lyrics solidified her reputation as a versatile and gifted musician.
Despite her success, Matsubara's life was marked by personal challenges. She faced health issues that led her to gradually withdraw from the public eye in the 1990s. Sadly, Miki Matsubara passed away on October 7, 2004, at the age of 44, due to complications from uterine cancer.
Miki Matsubara's legacy lives on through her music, which continues to resonate with fans old and new. Her songs, particularly "Mayonaka no Door (Stay with Me)," remain timeless classics, cherished for their beauty and emotional resonance.
