I'm SOO looking forward to see the 16mm outtakes of the "Do they know it's christmas" recordings. Seeing it all put together nicely like they did with the Outtakes of the "USA for Africa" recordingswhich they released on DVD for the 20th or 25th Anniversary i think. And with the 16mm film recordings we'd even get a wonderful HD picture so i hope there will be a proper Blu-ray or even a UHD release. That George Michael anecdote by Bob was really cute because at the time of the recording of "Do they know it's christmas" George came straight from the Airport from shooting the musicvideo for "last christmas" earlier (which thankfully got a proper 4K remaster from the original Camera Negatives a few years ago), which is why he brought it up :)
I was up front and could hear the acoustic piano and it was awesome...just standing there and hear and see Paul McCartney and then everybody took the stage. We all hoped for George, Ringo and Julian to show up, but no. It was a fantastic day anyway

Although he made an amazing thing happen, he still have Adam Ant, one of the best performer's Britain's ever had do one song, just to have Boomtown Rats, a band that most brits seem to find a shitty band, and no one outside the UK knows. I watched in Denmark with 12 mates alone in a friend's parents villa, and people was going.. who the fuck is this homeless guy. ? We hated that band, Adam Ant on the other hand had several fans in that villa, in fact I got seduced by an 18 year old girl when I was 15 based on me being an Ant fan. So Adam meant something to most European countries in 85 whereas The Boomtown Rats didn't have a weeks worth of popularity. We knew that one song. So the dumbest choice made by that guy, but he knew he had to get in there, for him it was the only way to seem like his band had a career going. And Adam ? Well, Rolling Stone magazine has been calling him the best live act of the 21st century for the last 22 years. Touring all the time and Americans are loving it. So, we didn't really see what we had on hand there did we Bob. ?
I think his kids were pretty young at the start of the 80s so he slowed down his output for a lot of that decade after 20 massive years with his previous two bands to spend time with the family up on his farm in Scotland
