So what was the reason you've changed your 7700k to this? You could just change a GPU and that's it, or did you had a performance boost that really worth this ?
@@Dz77777Dz The i7 7700k is a quad core processor, I think it would be depending on what games you play on the computer and it will become a bottleneck for the 6800xt holding it back in performance.

Are you using a NVME? What slot and what generation. I'm wondering if the top PCIe slot is stuck in gen 5 mode sharing lanes with the gen 5 PCIe slot. The other thing you could try doing is manually setting the top PCIe slot to gen4 or even gen 3 and seeing if the card is detected.
I was/am in a similar situation as your friend right now. i5-8600k and 1070Ti. My budget is not super high though so rather then the 6800xt and 7700x I got the 6750xt already (easy upgrade to do if I cant budget the full build) and am looking at going AM5 for the same reason of not upgrading very often, but the 7600x as it pairs better with the 6750xt and is a little less. It is much more in my budget to upgrade the CPU and GPU a little sooner then I normally would though then to do it all at once. So I am fine with this build being more of a mid tier at this time to just get it going. I am looking at the Riptide as an option though for the features it offers for potential upgrades down the line. Though with price as a consideration I don't know how much having PCIe Gen 5 will be required and not just be a nice to have feature near the end of AM5's life cycle as we are still only just barely pushing Gen 3 to its limits and Gen 4 has lots of room. (Assuming your GPU is a full x16 and not a cut down x8) So I am looking at other boards around that price point as well for other features and that might work with my build's look better.
I have overclocked 7700k and 3080TI, playing all the titels in 1440p on ultra settings with 100+ FPS, why did you made your friend to change it to this?
i am considering getting this motherboard, and a 7600 non x version. are there any requirements i should be aware of, such as requirement of liquid cooling, bios adjustments to insure i don't ruin the processor from overvolting and such? if i do get liquid cooling, are there any cpu coolers this board does not work with?
Right out of the box, with that cpu, you wont have to worry about touching any bios settings. The 7600 non x is not a power hungry chip. As for compatibility issues, nothing stood out as unusual to me. That being said, I didn’t test multiple setups of coolers, just used the one shown in the video.
Hahah was pricing up my next upgrade, and came here to see the motherboard, and im currently on a 7700 and 1060 6gb...i like your friend. Its been along time coming but i really milked every piece of hardware ive owned. 3 buulds being Core 2 duo, radeon 5770 I5 2500, gtx 670 7700, 1060 And now hopefully this. Have always waited to buy just as next gen dropped to make it cheaper. Sadly this will be my first amd build aa intels offerings just dont stack up for price. Probably with a 4070 though
Around this price point the ASRock Riptide is the only one that actually offers PCIe Gen 5 on the x16 slot but unless you have one of the only 3 or 4 cards that even use Gen 5 you can save a little money. Even then you would be unlikely to even notice much of a difference between those cards on a Gen 5 or a Gen 4 slot. Same goes for the M.2 slots. If you dont want to pay the premium for a Gen 5 M.2 ssd and only get a gen 4 or 3 ssd then it will just down clock anyway. Though most of the B650 boards support at least 1 Gen 5 M.2 you just have to make sure that the slot does not conflict with the performance of your x16 slot.
Of course, I always would include all boxes and accessories. I'm actually not sure if this board came with this GPU holder way back when I built this, or if I just missed it. Either way, ill reach out to the owner and have him take a look! Thanks!
Great question! First off, this boards x16 slot only supports up to gen4 speeds. Secondly, we used a gen4 nvme, so as long as we use a gen4 x4 m.2 slot, we will get the maximum performance of the nvme. There is absolutely no advantage to putting the gen4 nvme into the gen5 slot. In the future, if this person now wanted to add a gen5 nvme drive, the slot is open, and he could do so without moving anything else. I hope this answers your question!
@@ultraprecisiontechnologies Oh thank you so much for the info but even if we put the gen4 m.2 in the 5.0 slot won't it run at the 4.0 speed? So does it really matter if we use the 5.0 or 4.0 ?

Why install the AIO cooler wrong though?
Installing the cooler like that makes the pump run dry and gives sub optimal cooling.
The pump is not the highest point in the loop, so it won't be running dry. Air will settle in the top of the radiator.
