- EAA AirVenture 2023 doesn’t start officially until Monday, 24 July 2023, but a steady stream of inbound aircraft of many types could be seen on Saturday 22 July at Wittman Field in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. A summer storm marched across the field in the early afternoon, drenching aircraft and pausing arrivals until it passed.
If you’ve followed the Airailimages Channel, you know we like engine sounds as much as you do, and we will use ambient audio whenever possible. But for newcomers to our channel, please be aware that sometimes ambient audio is not usable for a variety of reasons, ranging from the presence of commercial music on the loudspeaker system (which we must mute), to the use of slo-mo. That’s when we cue the music, and do whatever it takes. Sit back and enjoy…
And please give this video a Thumbs Up to help it grow in views. We appreciate it. We’ll be here all week making news videos - subscribe and never miss out.

Here's some fun Oshkosh video from 2022: ruclips.net/video/K1LGpOhasgs/видео.html
I live only a 130ish miles north of Oshkosh. You would think I would have made it to the event at least once for how much I have always been fascinated by aircraft, but no. Been to the museum once and that was it. Thank you for posting this. It looks like an awesome time!
It is a great time! Thanks for watching and commenting.
At 3:27 that's a good friend of mine. Nice video!
This amazing episode of the EAA .i grow up by the EAA an the Sea plane base .i volunteer in my late teens an early 20 rest peace Tom an Paul Poberezny
Thumbs up for the rain work 😂 you got some great stuff there 😁
Thank you very much!
Thanks for these postings, nice to see them since I can't be there myself.
You are very welcome.
Thank you for this as I can’t be there this year and it helps alivate the depression.
You are very welcome!
I just wanted to comment on how much I love that you added music behind the videography. Your channel stands out to my top rated.
Thank you very much.
the plane at the end was insane looking
Looks like a Mike Patey deal
N749AW
I'm really sick of the brainless use of the word "insane." It's become meaningless, like the rest of social media insanity :-).
This one got my attention too. Turns out it's a one-off.
LEWIS ERIC ASCENDER (Category: Land, Seats: 4, Weight: Up to 12,499 Pounds), Engine: SUPERIOR XP-400 (215 HP) (4 Cycle) N-Number: 749AW, N749AW, N-749AW, Serial Number: 001, Year manufactured: 2018, Airworthiness Date: 04/19/2018, Certificate Issue Date: 03/22/2018 Registrant (Individual): Eric Lewis, 23055 Airport Rd Ne Unit 17, Aurora, OR 97002
@@mikestirewalt5193 Thata a insane desciription of this aircraft. :)
@@BrookTroutman I agree. It says there are four seats in this aircraft. To me it looks like two place and more comfortable with just one.
****************************
A few days later I've come across a video taken at Osh which covers the plane in depth. With the designer and builder. Turns out this plane DOES have four seats. What a really well done design for comfortable bush flying!!
Love that sound! 👍✈️👍
Yes!
Thank you !
You're welcome!
very cool, I look forward to more!
Thanks!
Oshkosh just got hammered with Rain and Hail expected to continue to mid afternoon
Of all the great and wonderful planes that arrive, even a bunch of types I haven't seen in years, I still get a tear in my eye at seeing a Cessna 170. I remember my dad and learning to fly in his C170. N4449B
Love your channel! Good stuff! Did I see a curious plane # at 2:40?
No wonder he chose bright orange! 👍🇺🇸
I’d love to go back, used to go as a kid with parents 76-80, betcha it’s changed lol.
The RV15 still looks like it's setup for test flights. I would have hoped to see one finished out. Maybe they'll have a little more info about it this year.
Haa the C-17 at 8:02 was the first receiver I ever had as a boom operator. thought it looked familiar
Schoolhouse airplane from Altus! Thanks for watching.
There will be no crashing and dashing this year! 😊
If you’re accepting votes, I prefer the sound of props, jets, and ATC comms over random guitar sounds. The growl of radial engines, the chirp of still tires contacting the runway, and the flow of instructions and “Welcome to the show” is music to my ears. Great videography though!
We agree -- we're guessing you did not read the intro page on the video that explains why sometimes we must mute the ambient audio. Rest assured, when we can use ambient, we do. Thanks for watching.
You’re right, I didn’t see that. Thanks for pointing it out. I got it now.
Quick Question for my fellow Airshow enthusiasts: I always see these cool arrival videos of F22s for example arriving to an Airshow and giving onlookers a mini Airshow b4 the actual show… most Airshows begin on Fridays and go through Sundays… So when would be the best time to show up and catch some awesome ARRIVALS?? Do most of them occur the Thursdays before Airshows or is it unpredictable and one just has to get lucky and wait the entire week prior to the show to catch awesome arrivals? Like how do y’all camera people be knowing when to be out there???😅😩 TY
It varies. From experience, we know that the Saturday and Sunday before Oshkosh officially begins on Monday are good times to get arrivals, because the event is so huge. But some of the military jets arrive mid-week at Oshkosh and beat up the field before landing. For traditional two-day (Saturday Sunday) air shows, I try to get there on Friday for arrivals if I can. Sometimes I win, sometimes not. I realize that is not a very satisfying answer. I wish you well in your efforts.

Great shots.
I just wish that you could identify the planes..year of manufacture..make and model..etc..
11:40....is that Don Gryner arriving?
Mike Patey's Turbulance blew up the engine on the way there.
What is the green light on the runway? Is it some type of threshold indicator?
A variety of colored circles are placed on the runways during AirVenture arrivals, and the tower controllers will tell a pilot "land on the green dot" or "land on the yellow dot" to help with spacing and rapid movement of planes.
@@airailimages Thanks. I understand traffic management of arrivals is a real issue but is quite well practiced
😊❤
And leaving the weirdest one till last 😂
At 14:20....what is the name of that airplane...never seen it before.
At 13:20?

what kind of aircraft is that at 0:26? the one with the T tail and huge wing span?
Think it might be a Lockeed Loadstar model 18 variant.
It is a motorglider, don't know make and model.
@@leifvejby8023 awesome! Thank you! I saw 4 of similar aircraft fly over in formation on memorial day and was super puzzled
Lead poisoning lollapalooza
Nice vid. Could do without the music.
Glad you enjoyed it. I gather you didn't read the explanation about the only times we need to use music. When we have usable ambient, we go with that. It's in the explanation. Hope you'll stick around for more Oshkosh 2023.
@@airailimages oh, missed that. I make burrrrr-py mouth noises when that happens to me. ;->
Good footage, but LOSE THE MUSIC. When I watch aviation videos, I want to hear the AIRPLANES, not music.
See description
Guessing you did not read the explanation on the video text page. Hey, thanks for watching.
@@airailimages Your footage is just as good as airshowstuff. Liked the shot with all the Barons parading by.
It's way better coverage than lamestream news channels
@@ItsAllAboutGuitar Lamestream news channels don't know squat about aviation.
Am I the only one who thinks that the Pilatus Porter is kinda ugly?😂
There’s a lot of GA garbage out there
You mean the people who make aviation possible?
I'm here to see some boned landings.
I saw all airplanes lined up on the radar
