  • A PROTOTYPE OF A SENSOR INTERFACE THROTTLING UP AND DOWN A 90VDC POWER SUPPLY THAT POWERS A DC MOTOR RUNNING PRAYING ROBOT.
    I am working an installation with video, photographs, sensors and robots. It is a series of robots that will react from sensory experience and input; they do not use a computer brain. They use sensors reading human output signals like heartbeat, touch and breath. They demonstrate to us a new way to instill consciousness. I am interested in the tension between spirituality, art and technology. The powerful possibilities of combining art and mysticism with the rigors of science and technology. The gap between what robots can't do and what humans can do. And what humans can't do and what robots can do! and how these two things are changing, right now.
    This work poses the questions;
    Can technology do spiritual work?
    Can interfaces/input sensors sense peoples' unique auras and interpret this?
    Can a robot respond to ones individuality?
    Can a praying robot help?
    Is spirituality quantifiable?
    What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to have a soul?
    Can I crowd-source energy to trigger technology?
    Who goes to church anymore? Who frequents the arts? Everyone is listening to music and or going to it, museum attendance is up, art can fill this gap that has happened with spirituality. Can I create an installation that is as powerful and fulfilling as a temple?.
    This is a way to tackle the relationship between religion and belief, technology and science. Not that there will not be just a small bit of humor of these sometimes twitching, jerky, audience triggered praying robots.
    Sensors and interfaces that can be used in home care, companion technology, entertainment, medical, spiritual and mental health.
