Yanmar has been around for over 100 years. They are possibly the best manufacturer of marine diesel engines.. Their excavators are not cutting edge but they are very reliable. Not uncommon for guys to get over 10000 plus hours out of a machine. John deere compact equipment, takeuchi excavators and some asv machiens all have yanmar engines. Their tractors also come with a 10 year or 3000 hour powertrain warranty. They are much bigger overseas but have grown a good foothold in the states in the past 20 years. They are very popular with road crews and pool contractors. They haven't really gotten into the forestry market yet.
I tried to look at a yanmar. Couldn’t get anyone to call me back. Even filled out there online form. Ended up going with a kubota. There are 10 kubota dealers in less than 50 miles from me. If its that hard to get yanmar to sell me a machine, I can just imagine how hard it would be to get parts and service.
I wanted to compare the Kubota and Yanmar but couldn’t get my hands on one. In fact I couldn’t even get a call back from the dealer… he was almost 2 hrs away which was a negative as well. Ended up with a Kubota and couldn’t be happier.
I’m surrounded by Kubota too. And no Yanmar dealers nearby. But you couldn’t give me a Kubota. Night and day difference in quality I’ve run both. Yanmar is much stronger. You can just call a dealer somewhere else and order the parts shipped. Not that big of a deal really. They don’t need much if it’s got less than 3k ish hours.
We have a JD and Kubota dealer within 3 miles. That, for support, ticks 1 box without even touching a Yanmar. I don't even recall seeing a Yanmar dealer anywhere around here. I think some of the home improvement stores sell Yanmar zero turn mowers, small yard tractors and implements? They have a reputation for being cost effective. Durability, longevity, value over time, all that is TBD. But like you said, cost effective can trump other things if you just need one!! Good demo Sam! --gary
I have the SV100 and I've done some videos of it running a mulcher as well. I'm EXTREMELY happy with mine and it's really hard to beat the price point and the warranty!
There is -7 80 series yanmar available to just so you know. Its got the same cab as that 100. They're fabulous machines, yanmar ships every machine standard with the best quick coupler on the market. There new skids look great aswell This is From a guy thats running Cat, kabota, and john deere in our fleet. Currently looking at a sv40 with 6 way blade.
I’m John Deere fan boy lol but use too they has the edge on heavy equipment. Transmissions and hydraulic stuff but I’m thinking EVERYTONE else has caught up too them so now idk it’s a crap shoot
@@VBELTandSON I’m going to be in the market for one in about 1 year, trying to decide between the 290 or the 080 . What would you recommend if I might ask ?
Do you think a 25k gooseneck with 2 12k axles would haul a yanmar sv100? I know the legal answer but i was wondering if you thought it would handle it. Thanks
Interesting machine mhmmm. With what i do i dont need a mini ex. I just rent them when i do. If i did get one id get cat or case. Reason why is there good quality but more importantly they have good service here whice is rly important for parts etc... At the price mecs are it doesnt make sense for my work but sure is a sweet machine 😎👍
Sam, many never heard you mention that in the first video. That’s why the people commented about you not giving a price. I was gonna be a real smara$$ to them but I didn’t want to do that in your page here
Yanmar are good Machines, you can never go wrong with them I used to work for a rental company
I love my yanmar vio35, especially the pin grabber quick coupler.

A bad dealer can always ruin a good products reputation.
I have both, like Kubota better

A lot of Vermeer dealers also sell Yanmar.

As soon as you started it you can tell it’s a yanmar engine. Sounds just like my TL150.
Interesting .. The sv100 alot more stable then the 80. Good thing they went with the 100..Nice vote..
I went Hitachi. 85USBN-7
Hydraulic manifold is laid out nice- easy. Nice purchase…get it
How much did the Yanmar 100 cost? Where did you buy it from? Thanks for your help. Great Video. peace.

Letsdig is the only person I know that uses a Yanmar excavator lol
I thought you had a 290 Takeuchi Or was that just one you tried out ? Thanks for great content by the way !
I traded it in for the mecalac. Almost 2 years ago

@mikestrickland6032 both are solid machines. I felt more comfortable in the 080 and it lifted more
Are you planning on getting more attachments including a hammer
This is not my machine.
Good review!
Nice work ! Wonder how that 100 would do with a mulcher head on it
It does pretty swanky with an FMX head.

I have a yanmar and Kubota mini ex both both within 200 hrs of each other. Both run good but Yanmar is superior in quality compared to Kubota.
