      The Herd with Colin Cowherd 1) College Football Playoff bracket. Better than BCS but still need at least 8 teams. 2) No salary cap in MLB 3) NFL Preseason 4) MLB and NBA season and playoff schedules. Both need less regular season games. MLB play in game should be 3 game series. NBA first and second rounds should be shortened to 5 game series. 5) Who keeps getting these GM and coaching jobs with franchises that never win.

      nah as a hockey guy im in the minority but i hate the fighting rule. theres no reason that should be apart of the game. The fighters dont even really like it but they do it to stay in the show.
      the stupid argument that with no fighting everyone would take head shots at the stars is brutal to listen to also. With no fighting do guys take head shots at Brady or Rodgers? Lebron or KD? Thats what fouls, penalties, suspensions and fines are for. Ref it out of the game if guys are running at the stars, but no reason to stop a sport to just allow guys to fight over nothing
      Adds nothing to the actual sport and sends a terrible message to kids

    If I came from another planet. Why are taxpayers paying for these stadiums when the education system sucks.

    • @harrygarris6921
      @harrygarris6921 6 лет назад +15

      So in a stadium subsidy, the city votes on whether to help fund the stadium, and if it goes through, they will raise select taxes in order to pay for it. The same with education, in order to raise education funding they have to vote on it and then find ways to raise the money. It sounds like you're under the impression that they are spending money that would have been put towards education if it wasn't for funding the stadium but that's not how it works.

    • @AJHart-eg1ys
      @AJHart-eg1ys 6 лет назад +1

      Of course, they would also probably ask why, when so much money is being thrown at education, students are getting worse.

    • @crittoneida958
      @crittoneida958 6 лет назад +2

      It really makes no sense why the stadiums are paid for by the taxpayers. Here in dc the skins have been talking about getting a new stadium for abt 10 yrs. Taxpayers are still paying for FedEx field. The teams threaten to leave if they don't get a new stadium. That's why the rams raiders chargers etc keep moving around. Oakland to LA back to Oakland now to Vegas.

    Stoppage time in football (soccer for you Americans).
    We have the technology to stop the damn clock when the ball goes out. And so we would have exactly 90 minutes of play.
    It comes up about once or twice a season with too much extra time (Steaua v Napoli etc) in important competitions.
    Plus, we drastically reduce incentives for Neymar-like diving and wasting time, which everybody hates.
    Why the heck don't we fix this?

    • @davidhoopsfan

    • @jacktaylor8561
      @jacktaylor8561 6 лет назад +2

      tteverywhere 97 they’ve talked about this in FIFA many times mainly because added time never makes it so the ball is in play for 90 minutes it’s still far less, but the reason for them not changing it is because teams can ‘refresh and recover and regroup’ when it goes out of play because they can’t be punished for wasting time, plus the game is fine as it is

    • @adrianbuck8772
      @adrianbuck8772 6 лет назад +2

      Does they game really benefit if we have a 90 minutes game in 120 minutes for example? I dont think so because nowadays it will be used to put extra commercial in the breaks.It was never a problem in my eyes so there is no need to try to fix it and get in the end a worse result because you destroy the flow of the game. Soccer/Football doesnt have timeouts/commercial breaks within a half which makes it good to watch.

      Canadian hockey fan here 🖐️. Fighting in hockey is stupid. It rivals professional football in terms of physicality and far exceeds it in terms of the multiple horrific ways you can get injured so let's throw a legal fist fight in there for good measure. The players don't like it, it's just another thing they have to worry about, it takes away from the skill of the game itself, in that it allows players who have relatively low levels of skill to thrive...it's just dumb. But of course people who don't have any vision and are stuck in history and tradition will never understand that....until someone gets caught clean and gets ktfo and slams the back of his head on the ice and suffers severe brain trauma..

    • @danielhaerle3898
      @danielhaerle3898 6 лет назад +2

      Jon Blaze the players don’t like it? That’s a complete lie they did a survey a couple years ago and only 1 percent of the players didn’t like it. Another thing I get the thing about someone getting seriously injured in a fight but a player has a higher chance of getting his head injured when he gets hit in the stomach then getting into a fight.

    • @MrJonblaze5
      @MrJonblaze5 6 лет назад +3

      @@danielhaerle3898 Of course the players are gonna say they like it. They don't want to be seen as soft. The fact of the matter is that if you're a young kid coming up in the Juniors with a dream of making it to the NHL you're not going to want to take yourself out of games when you could be getting scouted because of a fight. Already in many junior leagues especially in the states, they've cut back on fighting. You see it less and less and because of it the quality of play has gone up. The days of Marty Mcsourley and Georges Laraque having no skill but being able to knock people out are coming to an end thankfully. I think they should even cut back on the brutality of the some of the hitting, it would really open things up and allow the skill players to shine, not constantly being afraid of being decapitated and having their careers cut short like so many guys.

    The number 1 head scratcher I have in American sports as a European is why Americans rate the best player in history by looking at team successes. We play soccer where 11 men are constantly on the field and don't do it whereas the legacy of NFL players, that are not even on the field for over half of the game, depends on the championship their team wins

      basketball has only 5 players on the court at a time, so stars in that game have a proportiomately larger individual impact on the game than soccer players.
      i dont follow nfl closely but it seems like most of the time people talk about greatest football player, its a quarterback, and quarterbacks are the most infuential individual payers in the game.
      youre probably not wrong but there are some reasons why its like this.

Fighting serves a huge purpose in games, it’ll set the tone in rivalries or the next matchup, it can swing the momentum of a game or it can be used to make a guy think twice about a hard check. ESPN and Fox talking heads really don’t get hockey.

    What so hard to understand about fighting. People fight to defend their teammates who get absolutely annihilated into the boards, and it changes momentum. It's to prevent people from ruining star players like Crosby who get targeted. And nowadays anyone who fights gets a 5 min major and sometimes get ejected.

  • @Milordvega

    I agree on the NFL preseason and that part about pitchers throwing at someone (the so-called "unwritten rules" in baseball), but not on the others.
    Fighting is part of hockey. They need to vent. Fewer stars do it anyway.
    And the one and done in baseball is incentive for you to win the division.
    The imbalanced college schedule? Well, are teams complaining?
    Here's my own beefs:
    1. Too many teams making the playoffs in almost each sport (half or more than half in some)
    2. The cancel culture, leading to teams having to change names (Redskins, Indians, Braves, etc) or even Katie Smith no longer heard singing "God Bless America" in Yankee Stadium
    3. Analytics completely taking over the game with little reliance now on instincts or the eye test (so no more running game in football, no more midrange shooting in basketball, starting pitchers not even lasting 6 full innings in baseball, etc)
    4. Hockey is the Canadian game, so why can't Canadian teams win Lord Stanley anymore? Not since 1993. I know the teams based in US cities have richer owners, but still, not even once a decade? Takes a little away from the traditional or potential rivalries.
    5. MLS teams using European names such as "Real" or "FC" or "United" or "Sporting" - not appropriate imho. Use real team nicknames like some do ( Earthquakes, Galaxy, Sounders, Timbers, etc )
    6. A lot of teams with "brand names" (Yankees, Cowboys, Packers, Celtics, Knicks, Notre Dame, etc) retain their mythical stature even though they haven't won titles for at least a decade. Even the Lakers have only won 1 title since 2010, and yet they're the team sportscasters love to talk about all the time. The Dodgers have that too, just 1 title since 1988, but they and the Yankees are the faves of sportscasters.
    (But I guess that's really part of the appeal of sports: these mythical teams which people either cheer for or want to see defeated, so...)
    7. College sports are very exciting, but let's face it. There are hundreds of teams but every year, only the same 4-5 teams really have a chance to win the title. I guess you could say the same about the major professional sports leagues too, but it's changing. Recently you've had teams winning for the first time in decades, or the first time ever.

    If you throw at someone intentionally you are ejected. But for the vast majority of the time they dont do it because they jogged to slowly they did it because they did a frickin summersault and a gymnastics routine out of the dugout on a meaningless hr. Its nothing new. The players should know what happens if they show up a pitcher in the top of the 2nd in a meaningless game in April
