2024 update zgrill I do not recommend z grills. had to many issues with them and I wanted to separate my self from them. The price is not worth it because you can get a pit boss pro series same price or cheaper.
Brother I watch all of the top channels on RUclips for smoking. I just want to tell you that you’re in my top 3. Your attitude, how you explain things and your awesome recipes are ALL top notch! Keep up the great work my friend!
Love how simple and easy you explained everything. You did a really great job. You didn't sit there and talk nonsense and were straight to the point. Love it
Thanks Boss!!...I watched your video...took notes....and the ribs came out great!!....I used seasoned salt...ground cracked pepper on the prep...and when I wrapped it I put 3 pats if butter and Stubbs sauce......oooweeee!!..tender AF!!!
Just smoked these ribs yesterday for the first time ever. They turned out amazing and I followed your steps to the tee!!! Subscribed and will watch any more videos you pump out every week! Thanks bro
I made these ribs today it was my first time ever using a smoker only thing I did different was I used sweet baby rays bbq sauce ty for the help they where a big hit with the family
Reviewing some steps. Planning on doing a pre-pack on a Traeger my grandfather gave me. Going to add my own seasoning and sauce to improve the ribs, mesquite pellets.
Those look awesome, I smoke anything until it’s the color I want regardless of temp or time, wrap and cook until tender and pull back on bones, then I move to a sheet pan warming rack sauce and back in smoker on the warming rack, it makes it easier to move around so they don’t break.
Not sure if it's because i used a different pellet grill or so, but the tenderness wasn't the greatest, it was very tough and the meat was stuck on the bone. The part 2 where you cook for 2 hours or "200 degrees internal temperature" probably added to it. It took 1 hour 1/2 to reach 200 internal temperature.. which could of lead to the toughness. However idk. This was my first time smoking. But i followed this guide word for word. Maybe the full 2 hours was needed on part 2. Idk
Ill have to give this a try! Iv found alot of the recipes on youtube don't work for me as Canadian Ribs are so much smaller but this looks like I could easily change it a bit to work great! (Currently doing 225 for 4 hours, 275,1 hour, then wrap for about 30 min which works decently well but im still on the fence if I can get better!)
Try gauging by the temperature of the ribs rather than how long the ribs are on the smoker. I like to smoke my ribs at 225 until the internal temperature hits 180. Then I wrap them and take them back off at 195 and add the sauce. There’s a million different ways but as long at you read the internal temp you should be able to use the same recipes with smaller cuts of meat. Hope this might help😉
Really looking for some guidance here after buying my first pellet grill. The butter wouldn’t burn on that bottom grate at 225 for an hour or 2? Any advice would be appreciated
Hell yeah brother. I am going to try this in a few hours to get it ready for dinner tonight. Fell down the rabbit hole of reading comments and everyone has their opinion but going to stick to this for the first cook. Some family members aren't going to keen on the dr pep though, apple juice is a suitable replacement?
I've been watching a lot of your videos I like your work I see you use the Z grill a lot I'm in the market for pallet grill but I'm stuck between the Z grill and the Pit Boss what's your opinion between the two???
Well I’m going to be honest and say go with the new pit boss savana. It’s only $600 and it’s a hell of a smoker. I’m actually going to be getting that one real soon.
For the last 30 minutes it’s not about the temp anymore. It’s only for the sauce to tighten up. When they are wrapped in foil is the last time you will temp them.
I don't know how I missed this video but damn those are some perfectly cooked ribs! Excellent job. For me, your sign in the background would read..."If you feed ME I will come". It would be nice to have somebody cook bbq for me so I could relax for once 😉 Awesome job my friend.
RJ, I have done wings twice now with your recipe for chicken wings. 45 minutes @ 350. Lights out! The family said best wings ever; grilled on the smoker takes the greasy taste out. Keep the cooks coming. Bobby T
@@BeginnersBBQ Thats my first choice. I just cooked on my new pellet smoker with your above method, ribs turned out excellent, I came from an electric smoker, theres no comparison! Thanks for the advice and fast response!!
i wouldn’t put any kind of soda on them, besides i don’t drink soda . i just bought mystery box Zgrill and don’t recommend it. plus my brand new zgrill which I just contacted the company keeps getting ER2 code . otherwise I love it but it did take two of us three hours to put together and make sure everything was correct . Would’ve bought a pit boss but i would have spent more $$$ . Buy a zgrill in the store and it’s cheaper. wish I would’ve known.
@@BeginnersBBQ Another guy used a different approach to your method, he soaked the bbq ribs on Dr. Pepper instead of putting the Dr. Pepper after the ribs were smoked, so not sure if the taste would be different or if it would taste the same?

I have a z grill and followed your recipe today actually. What do you recommend for a good smoker?
I have a Pit Boss Pro series. I saved up a good while for it so I'm glad you made the comparison!
Sometimes can be pre trimmed if you get from a butchers
The fact that you had a " RECAP" on instructions you gained a subscriber from me brother.

I always struggle with the membrane. Every video I watch makes it look so easy.
it takes some time and practice. You should see my first couple time lol
Do you have to keep feeding chips during the cook
No you don’t. Just fill your hopper and you’re good to go.
Thank you for the quick response seen your video just got it trying it out in a few hours
If I didn’t want to use dr. Pepper what would you recommend using when you do the wrap step?
@@j_pasty_w1823 you can use apple juice, wrapped the ribs after 2 hr of cooking on the grill.

Does wrapping in pink butcher paper make a difference ?
Yes it does. The pink butcher paper will same the bark on the ribs. I believe it’s better that way than using foil wrap.
These look good bro!
Thank you.
Great looking ribs. I need to try your way.
Thank you. Your going to like them.
So I got regular pork ribs are cooking times the same
Yes it’s the same
Look great RJ. Bet they didn’t last long hahah another great video thank you I’ll have to send you some pics of my cooks sometime somehow 👍🏼
Man they where great ribs. Here is my email beginnersbbqoutdoors@gmail.com you can send them there.
My question: what are the alternatives to mustard?
You can use vegetable oil or just nothing. The ribs should be moist enough where the rub will stick.
Amazing video sir!!! Where did you get your z grills hat?
Z grills sent it to me when they sent the grill to try out.
What was the temp for that last thirty minutes? Thanks
For the last 30 minutes it’s not about the temp anymore. It’s only for the sauce to tighten up. When they are wrapped in foil is the last time you will temp them.

What temp were you on for the 30 min of last step? 225 still?
Yea still at 225

Perfect 👌
Thank you! Cheers!
Traeger 620 with WiFi at Costco for 650 right now.
That’s a good deal
Can I ask, why dr pepper? Or why a soda?
It doesn’t need to be soda. It can be apple juice. It’s a process. Or you don’t need to add anything.
Great job buddy...
Thank you. I really enjoy doing ribs.
@@BeginnersBBQ me too well anything that involves smoking I love it
is it ok to use butcher paper?
Yes but you won’t be able to add liquids. But it will turn out great.
So 180 for three hours ?? Not the “smoke” choice correct ?? Samw steps for only one rack as well ?
Yea 180 for the first 3hrs. Yes same way for 1 rib
Depends on your grill for mine 180 degrees is the smoke setting after that it jumps into the 200’s
What flavor pellets did you use..or like to use!?
I heard him say competion blend.
What apron you using boss?
Got it at Amazon

Did you turn on the grill in shutdown mode, then turn knob to smoke after? Or did you move to smoke then turn it on
I don't put soda...... I use beer.
