"Happy Hawaii" from ABBA'S 1976 (Arrival) album. This was their 4th album. Recording sessions started in August 1975, and continued through September 1976. Album was released on October 11, 1976. Recorded at Matronomie and Glen Studios in Stockholm, Sweden. (B-side to 'Knowing Me, Knowing You', February 1977

Happy is what ABBA was and is all about. Happy Hawaii is but one example of why listening to ABBA and/or watching one of their videos cheers you up. Every one of their music videos does it for me...ABBA, simply said, makes me happy.

they've done that on several songs, they are called working titles.

In 1976 my first girlfriend broke up with me, and boy I was crushed,I was in the 8th grade, she was the best looking girl, so I heard Fernando for the first time, so at the same time every night I would turn on the radio, and it was on at the same time, I heard the voices of angels, I became an instant fan, but when I got the cassette and saw their looks, I was hooked, and they got me thru a hard time, I was always a brunette type guy, but I honestly favored Agnetha over Anni-Frid just a little, then I heard happy Hawaii in 1980 and that became my favorite song of their's, cause I met my next girlfriend, she was so hot, it erased all memories of my first crush, I love ABBA, thank God for RUclips, cause now I listen to ABBA every night, 52 years later, I believe the 2 best group, because the Beatles are number 1, but it's a close one.

This ABBA song reminds me of my childhood, when my mother was down with asthma and had to be taken from Kagua to town hospital (Mendi) in the Highlands of PNG... leaving us 5 children (my father was posted on a patrol to Lake Kutubu with the colonial patrol officer).. I had to be strong for my siblings, we managed through, mother was flown back after 4 weeks treatment.. I am grateful for the doctors who saved my mother, that is why I am one of them... thank you ABBA,... you've touched every hearts even in remote Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬... MD

Loved the song! My son Tristan lives on Oahu, owns Hawaiian Fresh Farms there and enjoys Hawaii to the fullest! I spent three wonderful weeks with him and toured the whole Island. Great music!

I love this tune. I think both versions are equally brilliant! The only thing that is missing is the saxophones that feature in many of Abba's early recordings.

My absolute favourite among all ABBA songs! For some unknown reason it was never released in some countries, for instance in Sweden, guess they thought that "Why did it have to be me" was a better choice for this melody. "Happy Hawaii" was released almost only in England, and I purchased my 45 RPM copy while being in London that summer, and I still have it in mint condition.
I heard it once on the radio in Switzerland and then never heard it again until a couple of years ago, when came across it on RUclips. Happy Reunion!
As you would expect, this was a hit in Hawaii itself.
