I have a friend from work who was an Air Force vet who served at Minot AFB. He had this to say to the slogan, "Why not Minot?". He said, "Freezin' is the Reason!".
My dad told me. I haven't looked it up yet. He said a famous rock band called *"HEAD EAST"* coined that term.. They were going to play in Bismark but giving they were snowed in, in Minot. They played their instead / At the concert *"WHY NOT MINOT"*
My brother lives in Minot and I might be going to stay with him as I continue my job search. Looks like a nice town and this only made me more interested! Thanks
I have to admit, I loved Minot when I was there, I was only a child. We lived there from 1972-1977. I have sweet memories of the base, living on "Winding Way", and eating crab apples, and cherry trees in backyards! I'd dream how awesome it would be to fly in an F-106 or B-52... go "Spittin' Kittens"! Ice skating in my driveway on double-bladed skates was nice too! I wonder if my kindergarten school is still there...I think it was called Merill Lynch? I loved Minot, you ask me why?... I say..."WHY NOT"❤
OMG!! My father was there *1972 to 1979* My *grandfather was stationed at Minot AFB* and *retired as a fire chief* He ( Grandfather ) moved back to California in 1984. My dad left after graduation Minot high school 1979 to California.
He told me.. His older sister, my aunt. Married a flyboy.. And he used to hang out as a teen in the hanger on base / His friend, my aunts husband friend painted the planes. My father told me. They would go into the cockpit of a B-52 and breath in the pure oxygen that was thicker then normal on earth and would get so high on it. They could only take one small breath.. My dad said.. There will NEVER ever be another 70's it was the best years to be a teen.
My father graduated Minot High school 1979..Hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, sledding, cross country skiing. He's visited 2 times in the past. He stated he had more fun in school at Erik Ramstad middle school then, Minot High school. The first school he visited was Ramstad but it was no longer there. He visited the new Ramstad. 10x bigger then the old.. MHS needs a new one.. I'm going to visit Minot this summer with him 2024.. He wants to see a tractor parade again.. He won't tell me.. he said, I have to wait
@@nathanstremickrealestateguide My dad told me. *Hunting in the winter is the best* Becuz, all the bucks and deer come down from Canada to eat. He told me about 2 seasons that the deer from Canada were destroying farmers wheat crops / that remain under ground corn & sunflower so there was a 3 each limit / 3 bucks & deer per hunter. They came down by the thousands. Mostly around the Peace Garden area and as far south of Lake Metigoshi
My family and I just visited last week from a similar sized city in Canada. We were all shocked at how clean of a city it is and how much it had to offer for its size. It really made me wonder where all our tax dollars are going to.
We are moving to Minot in a week due to my husband's job in the military. We lived in Norway for 3 yrs and we're hoping to move to a warmer state but did not get it. So we'll just make the best of our years in Minot. Who knows we might fall in love and make it our home. ❤
Thank you! We're excited to be there and hoping to find a good community. I heard y'all get harsh winter but I'd rather deal with the cold than winter darkness here in Norway. As long as the sun comes out we'll be ok ❤
What about flooding in Minot? And how do is stay warm if the apartment I move to doesn’t have heating. What having to replacing cars every five years due to the salt erosion.
Did you catch that sled hill (it goes by pretty quick)? That is probably the biggest hill in Minot. Snowmobiling in Minot? ... sure .... but sledding? ... I wouldn't count on it.
Hi there! Sledding and tubing are actually very common in Minot. If you'd like to learn more, check out these sites: tinyurl.com/4t9eaejh - visitminot.org/tubing/. Thanks for your comment!
It routinely hits -60 in winter here if you include wind chill. It’s literally one of the coldest places to live in winter. I don’t hate Minot but I’d never put down roots here.
I’ve lived there all my life, finally moved after graduation to Fargo 2 years ago, way better but still brutally cold, i did see a population decline after 2020 in Minot so maybe people are thinking the same thing as me, Minot sucks
Hi there! Thanks for your comment! I'm a realtor and my videos are all real estate based, so a tour of MSU may be too specific but I'll keep it on the radar!

for winter, sledding down the hill to the field at MCC (magic city campus, the grade 11-12 campus) is excellent
Yes! lots of memories sledding on that hill when i was younger!

Great job, you sold me, I'm moving to Minot baby!
Love to hear that! I happen to know someone who can help you find a house 😅
Why does the thumbnail say pros and cons? You mentioned no cons. lol
I was wondering because I have a friend who moved there from Florida.
Thanks for watching!

Hi! I think all apartments have heating... Also, the city uses mostly a gravel mix to treat the roads, so there's little-no salt.
I got a farm job not too far away thinking a lot about the move
Taylor you will love it!! Farming is a huge part of Minot and North Dakota
My whole family was born there. It's nowhere near what it was before live and let live that as long gone.

How’s in winter?
It can be cold, but it also can be very enjoyable!! Every winter is different!
Can you do Bottineau?
Hey! I'm a realtor servicing the Minot area, so I focus on Minot. We love Bottineau and Metigoshe though! 😄

I’ve been stuck here for 3 years, this place is horrible. Much better places to live. It’s also winter 8-9 months out of the year, no exaggeration
Sorry you feel that way! We don't think it's horrible.
Definitely nothing to do here
If you'd like to move away, we'll help you sell your house!
No drive by shootings or other similar social problems. Works for me.
