The entire song is excellent but that chorus hits so deep, those details Frank did there is absolutely magical!!! I always listen to Gauze and let it roll to "Rosemary" and "Goon Squad", what a f*ckin' sequence!!! Koi no Yokan for sure is one of the best albums from them, like White Pony, the S/T and Diamond Eyes.
Frank is so underrated because a lot of the times you can't really notice his input. But in a way, that's amazing. He clearly is adding stuff because you'd notice it if it was gone but it's subtle enough sometimes for us to not notice. Then again there's the mixing of the album that sometimes buries his sounds.
I have to disagree about the synth mixing on Koi. It's perfect in my eyes, with plenty of variety that intentionally buries, backs, and brings forth the synths depending on the song. Not all songs need the same synth work, and this is a good example of one that only needs a slight amount (albeit important work at that lol). I can easily pick up on the synths here, but hey that's just me. If you want to talk albums that mess with the synths too much, look no further than the self-titled album. That one, as much as I enjoy it, completely softened the synths to the point where they were barely audible, with WGTB being the biggest offender to me. There is a boosted synth version of it and Hexagram on RUclips though, and man it's beautiful :)
Frank’s part in the chorus is so magical, like otherworldly.
Frank's job in this song is awesome!
