Wow. I've never heard of Reckless Kelly, and while I like some country music, not my main genre. This blew me away. The guitar solo near the end was spectacular. Time to check out a little more of his stuff!
Been a fan for years. Love the Red Dirt scene. Go see these guys when they get back out on the road. One of the few bands we will travel hundreds of miles to see. RK road trips are the best.
Aside from being a great band with their own great songs ; hese guys have great taste in covers. For a real treat check out their version of the great Richard Thompson's 1952 St. Vincent ......blew me away!
Until seeing this for the first time, I just thought Crazy Eddies Last Hurrah was my favorite song. Awesome cover . Wish there was a download on iTunes
HOWDY FOLKS, please humor this good ol boy. Here is a mark of an absolute hall of fame TEXAS/RED DIRT band. Everytime these fellows do an original song every hair on your body stands on end, then the same fellows cover a song I've loved since I was a young boy in the 80's and tears start flowing. The first time I had the pleasure of seeing them was in Waco TX, and Austin TX way back in nineteen hundred and ninety eight. RECKLESS KELLY FOR LIFE
I tell u what that Ryan engelman blah blah he's good from troubadours But don't u ever ever sit there and compare him to David abeyta!!! So much amazing improvizing talent he has!
This song always had the ability to fold right into the country genre since the moment Mark recorded it on a resonator guitar. It's a timeless piece that not many can cover and do the song its true justice... these guys got closer than most.
@@karenrycheck3213 David left the band last year. He wanted to get off the road and spend more time with his family. He’s focused on producing now. Just glad I got to see them live while he was still with the band. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
Could never be as good the original as Mark Knopfler lived the song. He wrote it about an ex-girlfriend and every verse describes an incident from that relationship. Only he can relive those emotions when he sings it.
Reckless Kelly is amazing! Until you hear these guys live, you haven't heard the best!
First time I saw them was at Gruene Hall in Gruene, Texas, near New Braunfels. Fantastic show, especially in the oldest dance hall in Texas!
There are no words to express how much I love this video,
I can listen to this over and over and over......

More like Americana or indie rock, Reckless are one of the finest live acts on the scene. They deserve a wider audience and more critical recognition.
Best cover of this timeless classic I ever heard

TRUTH 👆
RKs version of Vincent black lighting is the greatest song on earth IMO.
1000%!
Very nice! David Abeyta is an awesome guitar player! RK is one of the best bands out there
Until seeing this for the first time, I just thought Crazy Eddies Last Hurrah was my favorite song. Awesome cover . Wish there was a download on iTunes
Absolutely great! Drummer was awesome!
That's Jay Nazz. He's fantastic.
The greatest rock ballad of all time!!...

I know what you mean about the hair standing on end!!
A very good performance, this is a really hard one to cover and you nailed it.👍👍👍👍👍
spud train spotting hardly difficult to cover better because Mark knofler can not sing in tune to save his life but I do agree this is a great cover
So agree.this is "BEAUTIFUL"!😄😄👍👍👍❤🍷
I used to mix a band that did this this rather power ballad style. This is so good to hear.
Superbe interprétation !!!
Fantastic vocal !!
Don't ever stop, guys! Don't ever stop.
Man willie Braun is such a great musician. RK kicks ass
Absolutely a fantastic cover ! Willie's voice works so well for this song and Mark well enough said great job gentleman.
Right on !!!!
One of my favorites by Dire Straits. Awesome cover!
RK rules
Absolutely brilliant. ❤❤❤❤
Beautifully done man, great job
awesome guys. damn awesome. enjoyed it a lot. cheers.
Probably one of the best covers I've heard so far
He's got that magic touch. Could listen to it for hours.
Greatness.
This could be a country hit for sure !
great, so emotional. what a brilliant band, listen to their albums
He sat on his bed, he strummed his guitar and he sang an outlaw love song.
Saw them live to do this...
Amazing cover of an amazing song by an amazing band...
I tell u what that Ryan engelman blah blah he's good from troubadours
But don't u ever ever sit there and compare him to David abeyta!!! So much amazing improvizing talent he has!
I really enjoyed this. I hope it's a regular part of your shows.
Not sure how may times they've done it live but I've seen RK at least 70 times and have never heard them play it live.
great voice good job !
Absolutely amazing.
So is there a version of this available for download somewhere? Only seen it on RUclips and I love it.
Smashed it guys!
Likely the greatest cover I’ve ever heard.
He kills Vincent black lightning as well. Dude is so talented
I realize I'm quite randomly asking but do anyone know a good place to watch new movies online ?
Really good voice
Man, if these fans went nuts for this outro solo, they would be blown away by a Phish 'Harry Hood' jam! This was definitely a good cover, though!
Heard a few versions of this song, and this the absolute BEST
Please play this the next time you play The Cains Ballroom.
Of course they kill it. The only band to ever make Richard Thompson's motorbike go vrooooooom....
Thought I'd commented on this when watching but realised I'd only liked it...apologies...this is great
From the uk btw
Not been here for a while guys but back tonight as this song/band is a place that brings me comfort ... great band
That violin tho 🤯
Three men doing Mark Knopfler. I still love them reckless boys.
Awesome
Good, but I think no one can replace Mark Knopf for that song
I'm not a country fan, but i like your version, well done. The killers version live at abbey road is brilliant !
Thank you , one of my favorites by my pals Dire Straits :)
This song always had the ability to fold right into the country genre since the moment Mark recorded it on a resonator guitar. It's a timeless piece that not many can cover and do the song its true justice... these guys got closer than most.
Love this song but Mark Knofler went to the Dylan school of tuneful singing where as this version man some one who sings in tune kills it
I love the Spinal Tap moment when the Ampeg starts to hum. Call it schadenfreude.
Love to have been at that show
Quality,.
Beautiful version of this classic
😍
Fuckin goergeous boys.....and im a fan from the old Austin days......keep on a hick-rockin........
great song!
Great video
Wonderful
Somebody should tell Willie that he needs to finger-pick that song. :P
Excellent work as always, gentlemen!
nice job on this classic. Works really well as a country song, it really is a country song written in the wrong era.
Still killing it in 2020, so there is something good to hear besides the daily turmoil people mindlessly march to..
great job guys
Brilliant
Not only Mark K, but Will S. from Stratford-upon-Avon would be proud as well me thinks;-)
I mixed a band in the mid-90s whose arrangement was eerily like this RK version. Which is a great thing.
Good effort, very respectful of the original.
Wow!
this is quite nice
beautiful
Are they still playing this now that Abeyta is gone? I’ve seen Willy play it solo but not in a long time.
What happened to Abeyta? I've been listening to him since 1st grade guitar mass!

They have to include this, I heard it once live with Abeyta...they just have to keep playing it...it’s timeless.
My post didn't show my love for this. LOVE
Great¡¡¡¡
rhtym not true
Yes. Even better than the original. Exquisite musicianship. You guys rock!
Could never be as good the original as Mark Knopfler lived the song. He wrote it about an ex-girlfriend and every verse describes an incident from that relationship. Only he can relive those emotions when he sings it.
Wow. Unbelievably good. Dare I say just as good as the original or better in its own way ?
C'mon man...
Doesn't come close to the version by Mark and Emmy Lou.....Check that out!
Better than Dire Straits
Eerrrmmmm no, still a good cover
That's insane
sounds so wrong ,wrong key ,,oh no
