It is kinda the main question of the new campaign too. It shows the ideas that Matt has and sometimes it takes a campaign or two for the players to approach it
Really love how you added so many details in your animatic to add to the moment. Like the Traveler flipping through Jester's sketchbook to show her all the sad things she's already lived through, and the beautiful moments she had along the way. Kind of has this unspoken message of "Look how far you've come. You've already gone through a bunch of hardships, yet you're still here. Don't worry too much, you'll be okay." :')
Yes! You get it! That’s exactly what I felt like their entire conversation was about! Like Jester’s entire character journey revolves around the desire to travel and see the world because she’d been cooped up her whole life, but once she was out in the world on this journey with the Nein, there was just tragedy after tragedy. But this moment really captured the Traveler just comforting her in the knowledge that, a lot of bad happened, but a lot of good happened, and there will be more good to happen. Anyway, all this to say: thank you! That’s exactly what I was trying to help visualize!
Thank you! Funny story, I actually was inspired to animate this when I heard Sam's notebook pages turning in the background and thought it'd be a great sound effect for Jester looking through her sketchbook lol
Thank you! I'd almost forgotten about it too! It was really fun to go through the Nein's memorable battles and pick which ones were particularly hectic XD
oh this is absolutely lovely!!!! the motions of the characters feel so real, the incorporation of the pages turning is pristine, and the subtle expressions you give out (from a hooded character with their eyes covered no less!!!! that's really hard to do!) are wonderful to follow. Plus, whatever music you put on top of this gives it a nice quiet atmosphere. Well done!!!!! I'd love to see more!
Thank you so much!!! It was really fun coming up with the acting for this sequence for sure! Jester and Artagon were a really fun pair to start this storyboard journey with! As for the music I actually just found a dnd playlist on Spotify to listen to while I worked and just went “oh! Actually I’ll just use this music” 😂
Incredible work, this is awesome!! I love all the details, like the map of Wildemount and Tal’dorei and the traveler picking up the island, Jester’s note to Molly, the drawings of Yasha’s eyes and then the “many eyes upon you” thing, so very atmospheric and very Jester, and also a little foreboding because of Matt’s use of eyes later on. All very cool stuff, keep it up!!
Thank you for noticing those details! I was having a really good time trying to incorporate just some fun foreshadowing Easter eggs, but I didn’t know if anyone would notice them lol. Thank you for the support!! X)))) ❤️
Wow watching your Cad video i never wouldve guessed this is only your second post wtf youre good. I appreciate how youve highlighted less popular moments. There are sooo many good moments in C2, and this is proof you can make something special from any of it
Agreed! I have a running and ever-growing list of moments I've never seen animated that really stand out to me. There's a lot of content but hey! At least that means I have plenty of scenes to practice with! I'm really excited about the next one, it's gonna be Yasha-focused, and fun to make lol!
Oh my god, this by far my favorite critical role animation I've ever seen. It's so gorgeous and well made! Your talent is so insane and awesome. The emotion and the subtle yet super fluid animation is so awesome!!!
Omg thank you so much!! I’m really excited to make more content like this cause it was really fun for me and everyone’s been so supportive!! Thank you again 😭❤️
Thank you! This scene in particular really got me all misty-eyed... when I started working on these boards I knew this had to be the first one I tried! Also Sam just flipping loudly through his notes while Jes and Artie were having this deep convo provided some good inspiration for the scene XD
It's true though. People often ask why bad things are allowed to happen, especially those who believe in God or a higher power. Its so we appreciate the good, so we *desire* the good. We can only see the stars when the night falls, rainbows only shine after storms, and Hope has the most power in the face of despair.
"Thank god my dog died on Thursday so I could appreciate my birthday party on Friday better!" Come on, man, not all suffering is meaningful and you know that good things can be good on their own merits without a comparison to the bad.
@@DX795Q Bet you appreciate all the time you had with your dog and will love your next dog just as much if not more because of it. And that reminder of how precious and fleeting life is would hopefully make you appreciate the celebration of your own life, and the people who bothered to wish you well, all the more.
Amazing animation, and man oh man I did not realize the emense Ammount of foreshadowing/ little tidbits that make all the more sense now once we know…. Man…
Wonderful animation ! Really touching...and the music chosen add to the emotion. Sorry, my english is not perfect... What's the music name by the way ? I didn't found it in the video description
Thank you so much!! Also I’m sorry I didn’t realize I didn’t credit the music! The first song is “In Search of Adventure” by Justin Bell and the second is “Resting in Scandinavia” by Derek and Brandon Fiechter. I found them on a dnd music playlist while I was making it!
I used Storyboard Pro for this! It was my first time using this particular program so I also watched a lot of the tutorials from ZeBirdBrain on RUclips 👌
Thanks for the feedback! I noticed that a lot when I was sound mixing too (definitely not my specialty lol)… I was using it to drown out the background noise of the other cast members so I could isolate just Matt and Laura but I guess that’s the struggle of working with podcast audio ya know? But anyway! Thanks for the feedback!
If you must blink do it now, you might miss the growth of someone with this talent
Not everyday that you see a kubo reference...
"Without faith, what am I?" I didn't realize the significance of that line until now!
It is kinda the main question of the new campaign too. It shows the ideas that Matt has and sometimes it takes a campaign or two for the players to approach it
Just like people :')
"There are many eyes upon you"
Ones who know... they know...

Rewatching this made realize that Matt probably decided in this moment to put a volcano on Rumblecusp because of Jester’s suggestion.
Omg he probably did XD
I think Jester really changed the Traveler for the better and I love that for both of them
I agree 😭❤️the whole Rumblecusp arc was probably one of my favorites in campaign 2. Also it was very fun to see Artie get humbled for once lol
Gosh, this is great work! I love how you were able to incorporate the background noises into the scene. Super clever!
Thank you! Funny story, I actually was inspired to animate this when I heard Sam's notebook pages turning in the background and thought it'd be a great sound effect for Jester looking through her sketchbook lol
SNEOPLE!!
I love it!
I also kinda forgot about this moment and how wonderful it was, not to mention how amazingly you brought it to life
Thank you! I'd almost forgotten about it too! It was really fun to go through the Nein's memorable battles and pick which ones were particularly hectic XD

We will be watching your career with great interest
Dang, this was a really nice animatic! Wonderful job on boarding this all out. Gonna have to keep an eye on you
Wow, really well done! Way to give a scene impact, love what you did with the page flipping
Thank you! In the original VOD, Sam was flipping through his notebook and that’s actually what inspired me to make this scene! Lol
There it is everyone: Flat Exandria :P
I literally had this same thought the moment I started drawing the illusory map 😂

Oh my gosh! This video is absolutely amazing! You fucking KILLED it! Your work is gorgeous! Please keep it up!
Thanks man!!! I will!! I may have some Caduceus content lined up next 👀
This is a fantastic animatic, dang! Underrated!

this is gorgeous. thank you for this view through jester's eyes
You pick such beautiful moments

Kickass.
Really moving stuff.
Thanks man 🤘
Beautiful
Great job with this! Looking forward to more Critical Role content if you've got it. :)
Oh I’ve got it! I’m trying to relax a bit before I start the next but I’m honestly itching to start the next project already! Thank you so much!
@@zaza_ink Relax, but not for too long! Sound like that next project is rearing and ready to go. Haha!
I second that motion ! And don't hesitate to go deeper down memory lane and dab into C1 too if you feel like it 😊
Man, that was so good. I must have missed this during the live stream.
Amazing animation, and man oh man I did not realize the emense Ammount of foreshadowing/ little tidbits that make all the more sense now once we know…. Man…
I know seriously 😭 compiling the audio for this I just kept going “Matt you clever son of a bitch” the entire time 😂
This is lovely 💖 I love when little moments like this get spotlighted. The added little details you included here are so nice. Wonderful work ^^
Amazing Work! You did really great!
"Without faith, what am I?" Mathew Metcer! You little!! >XD 5:59
This is SO GOOD
this is so cool
A wonderful animation ❤ keep it up!
Awesome animation, A!
The requirement for A+: have Sprinkle peeking out of her hood and whispering behind her ear.
That would’ve been so good 😫 tbh I finished this before the Sprinkle reveal! Next animatic for sure lol
Good job!
I love the traveler so much 😢
Same dude, same 😭

@@zaza_ink oh thats pretty cool and thanks! 😁
If I can offer some feedback, the volume of the music/sound effects drowned them out some.
