I was ticketed on this flight and only changed to a later flight days before. I was at the airport trying to check in when they shut it down. The story was that a plane slipped off the runway. In a taxi to CVG we learned the rest of the story. Lost three friends on the earlier flight. It was a damp morning, and they had been repaving the runways. Lots of opportunities for confusion. Just a bad wrong turn. Sad.
Terrifying. I was ticketed on a flight targeted by Islamic extremists from London to chicago in the 2000’s. Investigators in London released the list of targeted flights after they arrested the terrorist cell. All I could imagine was what it must have been like for the people on planes that have been successfully brought down by a bomb. It wouldn’t be instant death depending on where the bomb was placed and how the aircraft handled the decompression. When a Pan Am 747 on its way to the US was bombed over Lockerbie Scotland, victims were found holding hands still strapped into their chairs.
The view of the old runway reminded me of World War 2 air strips I've seen. Interesting that is mentioned. i don't know how many pilots today are simulator trained or a past career in the military like I used to hear about years ago. Good segment. Sending a lot of nice thoughts to those who lost loved ones.
Very Awful Day 49 Killed 1 Lonely Survivor 1. Pilot Error 2. Controller Mistake 3. Runway Construction 4. Airport Layout(Main and General Aviation runway intersecting)

I was living in KY at the time and remember the impact it had on people in and around Lexington.
Still hurts. Lost a lady I had planned on spending my life with.
Sorry to hear that :(
I'm so sorry. that's egregious. have u already come to terms with it? where are u at now with that
?
@@KuostA no need to overwhelm him with questions, how insensitive of you.
Very sorry to hear that 🙏🏻
So sorry to hear that. If I may ask, did you ever get married?
i will never forget waking up to this.
A Wise Decision to Prevent Runway Confusions in the Future.
The Comair Crash nearly killed 50 Poeple.
Both Runways seperated
GREAT IDEA
Preventing Confusions
RiP Mr.Turner
Did this guy really said runway 422 and 826? And why is no one in the comments talking about this
Mike Finley died in that wreck, he owned Finley’s in London Ky
I really think this is a good decision
Confusions are now less likely
Stricter Rules
I remember that Day August 27 2006
I was just 9

Good Idea to Prevent more Runway Confusions
Just a Fatal Mistake
Pilots make Mistakes
Very Awful Day
49 Killed 1 Lonely Survivor
1. Pilot Error
2. Controller Mistake
3. Runway Construction
4. Airport Layout(Main and General Aviation runway intersecting)
Time Traveller 200.000 atc to blame
And as usual in the USA, nobody is to blame-unlike Russia or Japan.
eric used to be at SPI they need him back
The 49 Poeple will forever be Remembered
Pilots and Controllers must learn from each Crash
It should not Reoccure
Time Traveller 200.000 yea my grandma died on that flight I never got to meet her she will never be forgotten
Dumb Mistake
But we learn from that
Now its nearly 12 Years ago
Since the crash of 5191
In 2010 the runways where seperared to avoid confusions
