This old piano is in some desperate need of some love and TLC!
I am going to give it an gorgeous makeover to bring it back to life and ensure it looks elegant, aged and beautiful!
1. Give the piano a sand to remove oil, dirt and dust
2. Apply some decorative roses with wood glue and tape
3. Fill the gaps with silicone
4. Time to paint the piano (chalk emulsion paint from my from local Bristol Paint Specialists store)
5. Use a smaller paint brush for the rose details to get into hard-to-reach gaps
6. Once the paint is dry, give the piano another light sand
7. Fill the gaps of the frames (tip: run finger over the top after you've applied the gapping for a nice smooth finish)
8. Apply a second coat of paint
9. Finishing touches - add some wallpaper along the edges and some black wax to bring out the decorative roses
10. Done!

Curious why you didn’t paint the brown areas when you open the key lid or the sides of the key lid?
Great question, I wanted to see what it looked like, I have since painted them :)
Hi, I wanted to ask if by painting the piano, the acoustic properties of it are going to change?thanks
Yes, the sound changes.
What kind of wood glue did you use to adhere the molding?
Sika PVA glue
I just bought one for 50$ in tune. Hadn't considered this untiI saw a piano store in Ft collins colorado that had pianos painted with modern abstract art.
Love to see how it came up
I wanna play it so bad now
What is the significance of the wax? Would it be easier to paint with semi gloss paint to get the waxy like finish?
To make it took rustic and aged
What color is the chalk paint?
Porters paint called Frosting
Can you provide the link to where you got the rose details? :)
ohhh good question it was from Etsy, I will see if I can find them for you
Please can I have the link too 😍
Quedo colo las weas
These is a travesty😢

Quick question: I was just wondering what brand and color of chalk paint you used? I was thinking of getting some for my old vintage piano I just bought and redoing it. Thank you!😉
Porters paint called Frosting
Sorry ladies but you done ruined beautiful burlwood. A light sand and varnish with new key covers would've made that a really gorgeous instrument. I almost cried. I definitely cringed. Good lord.. this and painted over brick fireplaces just kill my soul. 💔💔💔
Had the same feeling
Sorry but everyone’s preferences vary and that’s what makes us unique. I hated it at the start and now it’s gorgeous. Each to their own. Not everyone loves dark wood etc
I have a old, antique, Buffet with amazing decor in it. I did though about it more then once to paint it, but the decor would disapear and thats why the buffet is still unpained ❤😅
This looks like the piano i saw on youtube in a short film, yet i forgot the title, do any of you know it?
were did you get the roses or how ar ther called ?
I got them from Etsy, they are called mouldings usually x
