  • A breakdown of the creative process we went through whilst bringing the Mos Eisley cantina sequence to life for the first STAR WARS movie... Episode IV, A NEW HOPE. It is told from the personal experience of creature builder and author, Nick Maley and the perspective of Mos Eisley historian and conservationist Tom Spina.

Thanks for this Nick. So pleased that so many original trilogy artists are now putting themselves and their memories out there for all to see and share. Those behind the scenes shots of the catina demonstrate how basic and clean everything is but the final effect on screen is mainly due to atmosphere, editing, music and sound effects. That is what's missing from most of the Disney + series we are now enjoying. Keep this content coming.

One of the most memorable scenes in ANH. Fringe characters just stuck in people's heads.

Legends. Look at costumes, props, and sets from other sci-fi movies in that era in comparison and you'll see how amazing Star Wars' designers are.

Love this and even more shots and info behind the scenes of the cantina excellence! Really cool to see the list of actors and a more in depth look at some of those characters. Looking forward to part 2!

Hey Nick was a pleasure meeting you at Steel City Con. You telling me about how heartbroken you were with the editing in Krull of the Beast was something I'll always remember.

Thanks. Really enjoyed the BTS stuff.
Btw, The Book of Boba Fett is awesome. There’s probably nods and hidden gems in there too that you could spot

Hey Nick, I was wondering if you know the color of the costume that Tzizvvt was wearing. I wanted to make custom action figures from the movie but I want them to be accurate as possible. Was it silver or tan?

I don't really remember. I suspect a light reflective khaki material.

    3:40 65 Pounds a week in 1976 is equal to $520 a week in today's (2022's) dollars.

Given your comparison, they paid me the equivalent of $2580 to help create characters that were sold for billions. Does that really change the point being made???

@@NickMaleyYodaGuy No, I was just stating a fact. I was thinking if anyone watching this might think, "how much is that in today's money?" I wasn't implying anything. I meant no offence.
